“Integrity is doing the right thing, even when no one is watching.” – C. S. Lewis
Dear Brunswick Middle School Students, Parents, and Guardians,
Unfortunately, this week’s newsletter will not begin the way our newsletters typically do. For several weeks, we have been dealing with an ongoing issue of vandalism in our school restrooms. This behavior has gone far beyond students urinating on the floor. We have had incidents of students urinating on walls, in drains, and in other areas of the restroom rather than using the toilet as intended. Poop has been found everywhere outside of the toilet as well. This behavior is unacceptable, disrespectful, and destructive.
I am asking parents and guardians to please have a conversation with their children about the importance of treating our school and its facilities with respect. I recognize that this is not the behavior of every student, but the actions of a few affect our entire school community. They affect the students and staff who need to use these facilities, and they place an unnecessary burden on our custodial staff, who are left to clean up these messes. Our custodians work hard every day to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for everyone, and they deserve our respect and appreciation.
At Brunswick Middle School, we expect students to demonstrate responsibility, integrity, and respect, even when no one is watching. We will continue to address this issue and work to identify those responsible. Thank you for partnering with us to reinforce these expectations at home and help us take better care of our school.
On a more positive note, we have plenty to celebrate as we continue to show our Blue Devil pride! Our football team wrapped up the season with impressive victories both at home and on the road, including big wins over our cross-town rival, Strongsville. Congratulations to our players and coaches on a successful season. We are proud of the hard work, determination, and teamwork they demonstrated throughout the year.
Our cross-country teams are also finishing the season strong, with numerous personal records (PRs) and individual successes. It has been exciting to see our runners continue to improve, challenge themselves, and represent Brunswick Middle School with pride. Congratulations to all of our student-athletes and coaches for their dedication and accomplishments!
We also want to extend a heartfelt thank-you to our PTO for all of its hard work and support throughout the fall sports season. From organizing and running concessions to supporting our school community in so many ways, our PTO plays an important role in making these activities possible. In addition, the PTO recently awarded several teacher grants to help fund team initiatives and provide additional opportunities for our students. We are grateful for their generosity, time, and continued commitment to Brunswick Middle School. Please join us in thanking our PTO volunteers for everything they do!
The first nine weeks of the school year officially came to an end this past Friday. As we close out the first quarter, our students have an opportunity to reflect on their progress, celebrate their successes, and identify areas where they can continue to grow. First-quarter report cards will be available soon. We encourage parents and guardians to review report cards with their students, celebrate their accomplishments, and discuss goals for the second quarter. Consistent effort, responsibility, and a commitment to learning make a difference, and we look forward to seeing our students continue to grow academically and personally.
Thank you to our teachers and staff for their continued dedication to our students and to our families for your ongoing partnership and support. Together, we can create a school environment where students feel supported, challenged, and proud to be Blue Devils. That also means holding one another accountable for our actions and taking responsibility for the way we treat our school and the people around us.
Let's continue to learn, grow, and lead by example. Let's take pride in our school, respect one another, and always do the right thing—even when no one is watching. Go Blue Devils!

Information From Past Newsletters
We would like to remind all families who utilize student pick-up and drop-off to please follow our established procedures. These guidelines are designed to keep our students and staff safe while helping traffic move smoothly and efficiently.
Students should not cross into the parking lot or be picked up or dropped off in parking spaces unless prior arrangements have been made with the school. Using designated areas helps reduce safety concerns and keeps the flow of traffic moving.
We also ask that students remain attentive and ready as vehicles arrive so they can enter or exit vehicles promptly. Parents and guardians should pull forward as far as possible in the designated pick-up and drop-off lane before loading or unloading students. Filling the lane from front to back allows us to safely accommodate more vehicles and significantly reduces congestion.
Thank you for your cooperation and for helping us make arrival and dismissal safe and efficient for everyone!
