RHLS School Newsletter, September 2023 Principal’s article
I watched a debate recently on a mainstream news channel and one thing that struck me is the numerous times several of the candidates spoke boldly about scripture and God. I really enjoy when people say Jesus Christ and not God, because I feel like then we are talking about the same God. Not everyone means the same thing when they say God.
This year our theme is Deep Roots, and we are digging deep into how to integrate Biblical Truths into every subject and aspect of what we do here at RHLS. We are happy that you choose to join us here this year to partner in the eternally important process of Christian Education, where our minds and our souls are linked in learning more about our Christian faith and what it means to be a follower of Jesus Christ.
Each week we will be introducing a question from the Catechism. Catechism is simply a summary of Christian beliefs in a question / answer form. The question for the week of August 28-September 1 is “Who is God?” I encourage you to have a discussion with your child(ren) sometime about what the Bible says about the answer. I believe it will spark some healthy and meaningful conversations.
Speaking of healthy – have you read or heard about the book “Habits of the Household – Practicing the Story of God in Everyday Family Rhythms?” There is a book club starting on Friday, September 22 led by RHLS Parent, Mrs. Katie Gillin, where you can learn and hear/read more. It is a fit for those new to the Christian faith as well as those who grew up in the church. Don’t we all want to spend dedicated time in Christian fellowship with other parents who are at our same stage in life, and have a common text in addition to the Bible to cultivate discussion about Christian parenting and all that it involves? Katie Gillin is a blast! Katie is a gifted speaker, author, and Christian woman that RHLS is blessed to have on its staff, this year teaching 7th & 8th grade Bible classes. Mrs. Gillin also leads our weekly Parents in Prayer each Wednesday on the patio before chapel – with free Starbucks coffee, too!
Here we go! Looking forward to a year where we all grow deeper in our faith, fellowship, and favor with God the creator of everyone and everything.
Blessings,
Dr. Paul Marquardt

Red Hill Lutheran Church News
Pastor's Corner
Dear Red Hill Lutheran School Families,
Welcome to the new school year at Red Hill Lutheran Church and School! If you are new to Red Hill, my name is Pastor Seth Britton and I am the Senior Pastor at Red Hill Lutheran Church. It is my privilege to work alongside an incredible faculty and staff, committed to providing a quality academic and spiritual education for your child.
If I have not yet had the pleasure to meet you, I look forward to doing so! You will hear me say often that at Red Hill Lutheran Church and School, we consider it both a sacred responsibility and a divine privilege to be used by God in assisting you to train your “child in the way they should go, and when they are old they will not turn from it.” (Proverbs 22:6). As Christians, our hope is rooted in Christ and His constant presence with us. In the classroom, on the playground, during Wednesday Chapel services, and in special assemblies, our message is that God has created all that exists and God loves His creation—especially you!
Red Hill Lutheran School is an outreach ministry of Red Hill Lutheran Church. What does this mean? Simply, we believe our church and school exists to help, support, and equip you and your children to live faithfully and joyfully! As a parent, you are the primary spiritual influence in your child’s life. However, you are not alone in nurturing your child’s faith. In addition to the academic excellence we strive for, our church and school exists to help you grow as a family in Christian faith, hope, and love.
If you do not have a church home, I invite you to worship with us and become a part of our church family. We offer two Worship services on Sunday morning at 8:30 a.m. (Classical) and 10:00 a.m. (Contemporary). If you are unable to join us in person, we livestream our worship services as well. For the livestream, just go to our website www.redhillchurch.org and scroll down to Worship Livestream. We also offer youth and family programs for students Kindergarten through High School. Again, check our website for times and options for you and your child to participate!
In these very challenging times, the need for faithful, Christian education has never been more important! The values upon which this country was founded, and in many cases, the Biblical foundation of those values, must be taught, reinforced, and honored. As a church and school, we will stand upon the truth of God’s Word and His desire that all people find real and lasting hope and peace in Him! If you need prayer, support, or have any questions about the church or the Christian faith, please do not hesitate to contact me personally!
We are thankful for you and your family! As a church and school, we look forward to another great year of learning, laughing, and loving!
May God bless and guide you always!
Gratefully in Christ,
Pastor Seth Britton
