Principal Office Updates
A Message from Mrs. Hummel
As November begins and Fall settles all around us, Albright Vikings continue to demonstrate what it means to be a Viking on a regular basis. What exactly does it mean to "be a Viking"? To me, a true Albright Viking is someone who shows kindness, integrity, resilience, and leadership. I've seen all of those traits in our students. I've seen kindness when one student needs support in class and a classmate helps them. I've seen integrity when a mistake is made and a student takes responsibility for their action and corrects. I've seen resilience as students engage in productive struggle with their work and accomplish the task they've been charged with. And, I've seen leadership, especially in our 8th grade students, as they help and mentor the 6th and 7th grade students.
Speaking of 8th grade, they took their annual Springfield trip last week and had a wonderful time! Students had the opportunity to visit Lincoln's home, the capitol building, the Lincoln Presidential Library, and Lincoln's Tomb. Thank you FTC for sponsoring this field trip It was an amazing trip!
Read on below to see some pictures from Springfield, meet our September and October Vikings of the Month, learn about the book every student is reading during our Anchor (homeroom) class, and learn about the FTC Glow Dance this Friday (permission slip required and linked up).
In partnership,
Heidi Hummel

The Amazing Generation
Our school has recently started reading The Amazing Generation as part of our SEL learning through Anchor (homeroom) class. Students are reading and discussing the book and learning how social media and tech companies build their platforms to be addictive to kids. Through the book, students will explore how technology impacts their life, the benefits of technology, and the drawbacks. HERE is a document with a variety of discussion questions you can ask your student and HERE is the general website for the book. I encourage you to ask them what they think of the book and the role technology plays in their life.
Viking Attendance Alert: Keeping Our Vikings Accounted For!
Did you know that student attendance is one or the strongest indicators of student success? As we get into these Fall and Winter months, some students may ask to stay home because they are sleepy or have a minor headache. Please help us help your student succeed by keeping them home only for fevers, vomiting, diarrhea, or a severe cold/cough. See the flyer below about student attendance.
