FROM THE PRINCIPALS
Dear CMIT South Families,
We are off to a strong start this school year, and I want to take a moment to thank you for your continued partnership. Over the past few weeks, our students have been settling into routines, engaging in rigorous learning experiences, and building positive connections with their peers and teachers.
Both middle school and high school students have also completed their Beginning-of-Year (BOY) diagnostic assessments, specifically the NWEA MAP. These assessments provide valuable insight into each scholar’s strengths and areas for growth, helping teachers tailor instruction to meet individual needs. Ms. Georgia Jones, our Testing Coordinator, will be scheduling a Parent Data Night soon to help families better understand the forthcoming reports and how you can support your scholars at home.
As we move forward, our focus remains on creating a safe, supportive, and academically challenging environment where every student can thrive. This includes strengthening daily attendance, reinforcing schoolwide expectations, and ensuring that high-quality instruction aligned to our curriculum and pacing guides is taking place in every classroom.
Your support at home makes all the difference. Whether it’s encouraging your child to stay on top of assignments, reviewing class materials, or simply asking about their day, your engagement helps reinforce the culture of excellence we are building together.
We were sad to have to postpone the Back-to-School Block Party, but rest assured—it’s still happening! The new date is Friday, October 3, 2025. Our wonderful PTO will be sharing more details soon, so stay tuned. We can’t wait to see our CMIT South families come together for this exciting community event!
Thank you for entrusting us with your child’s education. I look forward to continuing our partnership as we work toward another successful year.
With gratitude,
Mrs. Tiffawny Green, Middle School Principal
Dr. Borden-MCCarter, High School Principal

Our Girls Flag Football team improved to 2-0 after a 20-6 victory over Surrattsville on Tuesday. Despite playing in pouring rain the entire game, our Tigers pushed through with touchdowns from Chassidy, Niayalah, and a defensive score from Kamryn Ford. Way to show toughness and resilience!

Our Volleyball program had a strong week, going 2-1. They opened with back-to-back wins against Gwynn Park HS and Langley Park International before falling in a hard-fought match against Oxon Hill HS.
