2nd Grade Newsletter
February 2-6
Hello 2nd Grade Families,
This past week, we were iced in and missed several days together, but we were so happy to welcome students back for one day! We hope everyone stayed warm and safe and enjoyed some extra time together as a family! Weβre looking forward to continuing our learning and catching up in the week ahead.
π Math
In math, weβre working on solving multistep word problems. Students are learning to break down each problem, use different strategies, and explain their thinking step by step to find the solution.
π ELAR (English Language Arts & Reading)
In ELAR, weβre exploring fractured fairy tales and fables. Students are enjoying stories with unexpected twists and comparing them to the originals, which helps build critical thinking and creativity.
πΊοΈ Social Studies
This week we will be learning about different hstorical figures and how they showed great citizenship. We will be using this knowledge to create our own currency to honor their memory and the great things they have done for our community.
π Science
In science, weβre learning about severe weather, including tornadoes, hurricanes, and thunderstorms. Students are discovering how these storms form, their effects, and important safety tips for staying safe during severe weather events. We will use this knowledge to become weather reporters!
Have a great weekend!

Career Week Volunteers Needed
We are looking for career presenters who would like to volunteer to speak to 3rd-5th grade classrooms for about an hour and a half time block on Tuesday, March 10, 2026. You will be assigned a grade level and classroom. The students will rotate around to each classroom in 20 minute intervals. All parents who have an approved background check are welcome to submit the career day 2026 form.
Valentines Boxes- Feb 12
On February 12, we will be doing a valentines exchange in class. Students who want to participate may decorate a box at home and bring it to school, making sure the slot is large enough for a small card and a treat. If a student doesnβt make a box at home, they will have the chance to decorate a paper bag in class on February 12. Participation is completely optional, but if your child chooses to participate, please ensure they bring a valentine for every student in the class.
π£ Announcements
If you are dropping off your childβs lunch, please make sure to bring it NO LATER than 12:00 PM.
We truly appreciate your help in making sure every child has a stress-free and smooth lunchtime. Thank you for your cooperation and support!
