February 17-21,2025

Dear Fairfax Families,

Welcome back from the long weekend! Last week we celebrated our 100th day of school with our kindergarten students by dressing up as centenarians—it was a fun and memorable milestone!

Also, thank you for your efforts in keeping Fairfax healthy. We appreciate your continued support and hope for a great week ahead! See the following important announcement below:

Black History Month Celebrations at Fairfax!

February is Black History Month, and we are excited to celebrate with our students through engaging activities, learning opportunities, and fun challenges! Throughout the month, students will participate in:

🎉 Trivia Contests – Testing their knowledge of Black history and achievements
🎨 Bulletin Board Contests – Showcasing student-created displays
📖 Reading Activities – Exploring books by Black authors and about Black history
🎲 Games & More – Interactive ways to learn and celebrate

We encourage families to continue these conversations at home and celebrate the incredible contributions of Black leaders, artists, scientists, and changemakers. Thank you for your support as we honor and learn together!

Dress for the Weather

As temperatures drop, please ensure your child comes to school prepared for outdoor activities. Students may go outside for recess this week, weather permitting. Boots, gloves, hats, and coats are important to keep them warm and comfortable. Thank you for helping us make sure everyone is ready to enjoy their time outside!

Support Student Council

Please join the members of the Fairfax Student Council with their SERVICE PROJECT to benefit the Ronald McDonald House of Cleveland (RMHC) by collecting tabs from soda pop, soup, pet food, and other canned goods. The Ronald McDonald House of Cleveland provides support and assistance to families who have children who are ill or injured and are receiving medical treatment. The tabs will be given to the Ronald McDonald House of Cleveland who will then work with a local recycler to turn those tabs into money. The money from the recycled pull tabs goes into the RMHC Family Fund, which gives families staying at the Ronald McDonald House special moments of normalcy and joy – like birthday gifts, trips to the hair salon, and anniversary dinners.

Attendance Matters
Every day counts! Attending school regularly helps students build strong habits and stay engaged in their learning. Please ensure your child is present and on time unless they are ill. Let’s work together to give them the best chance to succeed.

Thank you for your continued partnership. Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns.

Warm regards,

Dr. Walker
