During the month of March, we had 78 total behavior referrals. Of those referrals, 35 were minor and 43 were major. Physical contact and displaying disrespectful/defiant behavior were the most common behavior referral types.
We will continue to teach appropriate conflict resolution and showing respect toward peers and adults.
Throughout the spring we will also have positive behavior incentives school wide to promote and reward expected behaviors.
These include a battle of the bones for the most bark bones received by grade level, extra weekly bark bones winners, and a 100% bark bone incentive for a whole school reward.
All students were rewarded with a surprise dance party on Wednesday before spring break because of the positive behaviors shown by our students throughout the school year and seen in our behavior data up until this point of the year.
Please check out our behavior data triangle below indicating that more than 80 percent of our students have displayed expected positive behaviors since the beginning of the school year.
Pennsylvania System of School Assessment (PSSA) Grades 3-5
Students in grades 3-5 will be taking the Pennsylvania System of School Assessment (PSSA) this month.
All student devices and chargers will need to be in your child's classroom by Wednesday, April 17th. All student devices will remain in your child's classroom until our testing window is complete.
We need your help in ensuring that your child comes to school well rested and has a healthy breakfast.
Please join us in encouraging your child to do their best during testing sessions.
Please see the attachments below for our Parent letter and the Pennsylvania Electronic Device policy.
Arrival Procedures
A reminder that our school doors open at 8:00 a.m. Please ensure that if your child is arriving before 8:00 a.m. that you are monitoring your child until our doors open. Please help us in ensuring that your child is not running around the school. This is a safety concern.
Grandview Elementary Parents/Guardians:
If you are in the car line, please wait for a staff member to open your car door and take your child out of the car to walk them safely to the curb.We appreciate your help in ensuring we keep safety a priority!
Snacks
Students are able to purchase a snack during their lunch time that is separate from their daily snack time.
A reminder that all breakfast and lunch is free for students, however, if they request a second meal, they will be charged.
This Month in Classroom Champions
This month in Classroom Champions students will learn all about Healthy Living! Christian will teach students that a key component to social and emotional learning is the ability to make good decisions. The topic of healthy living gives kids the chance to try out decision making in areas they can control, like choosing to walk more and sit less, or choosing water over soda.
Our April Citizen of the Month focus will be on those student's who display healthy living through out the month!
We are excited for our students to have their Live Chat with Christian on April 22nd!
See what Christian has to teach us about Healthy Living this month:
