Come Work With Us!
Did you know Dike-Newell is hiring? We are still looking for 2 ed techs. Curious about working in a public school? An ed tech job might be the place to begin!
Ed techs support student needs, often in small groups or individually. Ed techs have a supervising teacher who supports the work, and oversees the work being done with students.

π«News From The Nurseπ©Ί
Everyone loves a good treat (and occasional trick) for Halloween! If you are thinking about sending in a treat for the classroom this fall, consider some of these non-food treats for friends who may have food allergies or food sensitivities.
Pencils, pens or markers
Festive erasers
Mini books
Stickers
Glow sticks
Bubbles!
Mini pumpkins
These ideas can be used for any celebration throughout the year and are sure to be memorable for classroom friends.
Friendly reminder for after Halloween, we ask that Halloween candy collected from trick-or-treating stays at home please.
-Nurse Dill,
Teal Pumpkin Project
If you would like to offer non-food treats for your trick or treaters this year consider participating in the Teal Pumpkin Project. FARE (Food Allergy Research & Education) started this project to give children with allergies the opportunity to trick or treat without being exposed to allergens. If you would like to participate in the project, you can display a teal pumpkin outside of your house and offer non-food treats.
Teal pumpkins are available at CVS in Bath.

Thanks, Ricker Hill Orchard!
Second graders had so much fun welcoming their families into the school to paint pumpkins on October 20th! We are so grateful to Ricker Hill Orchard for their kindness! Their donation of pumpkins helped these second graders make lifelong memories, get crafty, and enjoy fall festivities here at Dike-Newell School!
Thank you, also, to all of the parents who were able to volunteer for this fun fall event.
The smiles on these kiddos' faces tell us all we need to know!

In accordance with School Board policy, the following promotional announcements have been included at the request of the sponsoring organization because they may be of interest to students and their families. These activities are not sponsored by the school, and inclusion of these announcements does not constitute endorsement of the organizations or activities by the school.
Backpack Program
Our Backpack Program, offered in partnership with Good Shepherd Food Bank, will be up and running this month! The first Friday that food bags will be sent home is Friday, October 16.
Each Friday, participating students will bring home a bag of non-perishable, shelf-stable food in their backpack. The bags typically contain enough food for approximately two meals and two snacks. While the contents vary from week to week, the goal is to provide a little extra support and help ease the burden of weekend meals.
Any family is welcome to participate. There are no requirements to sign up other than a desire for weekend food support. If having a weekly bag of food would be helpful or supportive for your family, we encourage you to sign up!
Families may sign up for the Backpack Program or discontinue participation at any time. There is no long-term commitment, and families are welcome to use this resource whenever it is helpful to them.
Fresh Produce Table
As part of the food security program that Mrs. Tringali coordinates, we also offer a fresh produce table once a month. Keep an eye out in "What's Buzzing!" for October's date!
If you have any questions about the Backpack Program, the fresh produce table, or other food security supports, please reach out to Mrs. Tringali at ktringali@rsu1.org or 443-8285.
