Dear Robert H. Down School Community,
Thank you all for making last week’s Back to School Night a success! It was a pleasure meeting many of you in person and hearing your feedback.
For those of you who may have been unable to attend the Principal’s Address, please review these slides for important information particularly around our Attendance Campaign and updates to our Justifiable Absence Requests for Independent Study which requires a minimum of two weeks of advance written notice through this form.
Great news! Thanks to our Facilities and Maintenance Department, our new primary playground structure is now open! For safety reasons, we will be limiting the number of children who can be on the structure at any one time and are working on a fair way to ensure each child who wants to play on the new structure has a chance to do so.

PG PRIDE, Walk with PRIDE: Join us Saturday, September 6th from 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM on the rec trail, starting at Lover's Point. All money raised goes directly to your child's classroom. Donate online here.
Volunteer: Complete this survey to let us know how you'd like to contribute. We have opportunities ranging from the School Site Council to classroom volunteering and lunch supervision.

Safety Updates
On Friday, August 22 at 10:10AM, we will be conducting an Evacuation Safety Drill. For your reference, our Big Five protocol/procedure for Evacuation is linked here.
Please DO NOT leave your cars idling in the Loading and Unloading Zone on Pine Avenue. Be courteous and only stop there if you are quickly dropping off your child(ren). Otherwise, I encourage you to park a few blocks away and make it a leisurely walk with your child(ren).
If you are riding a bike, especially e-bikes, please SLOW DOWN, and be on the lookout for people, particularly around the school.
