Principal Smith Weekly Update 3/23
A Weekly Memo for a Douglas Gardens Parents /Guardians

Emergency Contacts
We've noticed that several students do not currently have emergency contacts on file. Having up-to-date emergency contact information is essential in situations when we are unable to reach a parent or guardian and a student needs to be picked up from school.
Emergency contacts should be trusted individuals your child knows well and who are able to respond promptly if needed. Ideally, these contacts live nearby and can arrive at the school in a timely manner.
If you receive a call requesting that your student be picked up, please ensure that either you or your designated emergency contact is available to do so as soon as possible.
Thank you for helping us keep all students safe and supported.
FROM PTO
Can Drive Fundraiser
For the month of April, to celebrate Earth Day, PTO is hosting a Can Drive Fundraiser. The link below is a google form for parents to complete so they can opt in/out of the Can Drive Fundraiser. Our goal is to raise $1000.00. If our students meet the goal, PTO will invite Caesar the No Drama Llama to our Kindness Matters Celebration (previously known as the Spring Event).
How this will work:
1. Families complete the google form so PTO can collect information on who wants to participate and who to distribute collection bags to.
2. All through the month of April, students will collect cans.
3. The PTO will be stationed outside of school gates on 4/8 and 4/22 from 3-4pm to collect bags.
4. The PTO will go to families homes on 4/19 and 4/26 to collect cans. You opt into this on the google form. We will coordinate with those families.
