October Letter from Mrs. Tapia
Dear Wildcat Families,
Happy October! This month is full of exciting events and opportunities for our students, families, and community to connect and celebrate. Below are a few highlights we’d love for you to mark on your calendars:
School-Wide Focus: Be Respectful
Each month, our Wildcats focus on a core value, and for October we are emphasizing “Be Respectful.” Students will be learning and practicing what respect looks like in the classroom, on the playground, and in our community. We encourage families to talk with their children about how they can show respect at home and at school.
Fall Conferences
We look forward to welcoming families on campus for fall conferences over these next two weeks. This is a wonderful time to connect with teachers, discuss student progress, and set goals together. Please remember we have early dismissal.
Fencing Update
I am excited to announce that we are finalizing plans to fence the big playground. It will still be a neighborhood park outside school hours, but will bring an added layer of safety and security for our students during school hours. The project will take approximately three days to complete and we are looking at the end of October/early November. As soon as we have firmer dates, we will share as part of our blacktop will be needed for installation. Thank you for your patience and support while we finalize this project.
Walk & Roll to School Day – October 8
Join us in promoting healthy habits and safe routes to school by walking or rolling with your child on October 8. Let’s make it a community-wide event!

Our talented students will be performing The Jungle Book on October 18 with Missoula Children's Theater. We can’t wait to see their hard work come to life on stage. It's not too late to sign up! Please see details below in the flyers.
Unity Day – October 15
On Unity Day, we join schools across the nation to stand against bullying and promote kindness, acceptance, and inclusion. Please encourage your child to wear orange in support.
First ELAC Meeting – October 15 at 8:45 a.m.
Families of English Learners are invited to our first ELAC (English Learner Advisory Committee) meeting in the MPR Your input and partnership are so valuable to our program.
PTA Movie Morning – October 19

Book Fair – October 20–23
Our Book Fair is back! Students will be able to browse and shop during the school day, and families are welcome to join during select times. This is a great way to spark a love of reading.
Picture Retakes – October 21
If your child was absent on picture day or you’d like a retake, Dorian will be back on October 21.
Thank you for your continued partnership in making Altamont Creek such a wonderful community for our Wildcats. We look forward to a fantastic month ahead!
Warmly,
Andrea Tapia
Walk & Roll To School Day
Join Altamont Creek for International Walk and Roll to School Day! We will celebrate our school spirit, our health, and the environment with the Alameda County Safe Routes to Schools program. This year, our school will celebrate in-person at the schoolyard. With your family and friends, you can participate by:
· Taking a walk, or riding a bike, skateboard, or scooter
· Biking with your child on their own or with a trail-a-bike
· Taking the bus with your child and walking to and from the bus stop
· Joining a Walking School Bus or a Bike Train
Post a fun photo on social media to celebrate the day! Remember to tag @AlamedaCoSR2S on X/Twitter with #WalkandRoll25 and #IWR2SD, and post on Facebook at facebook.com/saferoutestoschool.
We look forward to walking and rolling with you!

Attendance Matters
Did you know that missing just two days of school each month adds up to nearly 20 days in a year? In elementary school, every day counts! Regular attendance builds strong learning habits, helps students stay connected with their classmates, and ensures they don’t miss important instruction. Thank you for helping your child arrive at school on time, every day—together we are setting them up for success!
Volunteer Portal
There are so many ways to get involved at Altamont Creek! Whether you have a little time or a lot, your support makes a big difference for our Wildcats. You can help in classrooms, support events like the Book Fair or FundRun, lend a hand in the library, or join a committee through our PTA. Volunteering is a wonderful way to connect with our school community and support our students’ success.
