Farley Elementary School
Parents & Friends -
10 Days of Summer Left!!
The faculty, staff, and I are excited to welcome everyone back to school soon! Mr. Ratliff has put the finishing touches on our halls and classrooms and the building looks great. There are a lot of new faces around the school this year.
We mailed letters with teacher assignments on Friday. If you did not receive your letter, please email me or call the school this week.
New for 25/26
The Alabama legislature passed several laws in the Spring that will impact the school, chiefly, the FOCUS Act. How does it impact the school? Cell Phones and other connected devices including Apple Watches or AirPods cannot be used during the school day. They must be powered off and left in the students' backpacks. There are exceptions for devices that are required for health plans, IEPs, or 504s. Also - the FOCUS Act allows students to use their devices in an emergency situation at the school.
Kinder Camp - During the first 3 days of schools, K students will rotate through each teacher's class so we may gain insight into learning styles, personalities, and academic data so we can put together optimal learning communities. Teacher assignments and classes will form by Thursday, Aug 7th.
I hope to see everyone at Popsicles with the Principal on Wednesday, July 30th. New families to Huntsville or Farley (1st - 5th Grade) will begin in the Library at 1PM. Kindergarten orientation is also at 1PM and will occur in classrooms.
Many thanks, DrT
