Bridge Time Update Bridge Time Update

Today marks the completion of 9 Weeks of Bridge Time at CMS! Our staff dreamed of creating a system where students could:

- receive additional help on specific topics from teachers in a focused environment

- complete homework in study halls without distractions from students without homework

- participate in fun activities that connect them with their peers

- explore new learning

Bridge Time has been all of this and more!! Our students and staff have truly embraced Bridge Time as a chance to give students the opportunities they need. The level of engagement in our sessions is high and our incidents of behavior infractions are down. Most of all, there is a sense of joy in the building as students have choice in how they spend the time!

Here is a snapshot of our first 9 weeks. In short, our staff have identified specific students for specific interventions or additional learning over 5,000 times. Even better, students have had a voice in their learning over 14,000 times. This means students are learning how to look at their grades and choose a session that might help them improve or they are choosing sessions that meet their individual interests. Giving that autonomy has been very exciting and is changing the culture of our building!

See you Monday Broncos!

Half Day Wednesday Half Day Wednesday

We have a Half Day Wednesday, November 12 with a dismissal at 10:50 AM from the Middle School.

Parking Lot Safety Parking Lot Safety

As it becomes darker in the mornings, please prioritize using the drop-off lane closest to the building. This is the safest option for staff and students. We have had instances of unsafe driving in the parking lot drop-off lane. Cars should be using an abudance of caution driving through the lot and always look for walkers. Thank you for your help with this matter!

Diabetes Awareness Month! Diabetes Awareness Month!

Wear Blue on Friday, November 14!

Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is a chronic autoimmune condition that persists throughout life. We have 5 CMS students living with Type 1 Diabetes and thriving here at school! While it can be diagnosed at any age, it is most commonly identified in childhood or adolescence. In T1D, the immune system mistakenly targets and damages the insulin-producing cells in the pancreas. Insulin is a crucial hormone that enables the body to convert food into energy. As a result, individuals with type 1 diabetes must administer insulin through injections or an insulin pump to maintain proper blood glucose levels and support normal bodily functions.

Managing T1D requires ongoing care and attention, but with the right resources, support, and knowledge, individuals living with the condition can lead active, fulfilling lives.

Educational Resources to Prevent Vaping in Minors

Many schools around the country are seeing an increase in the use of e-cigarettes, better known as "vapes," in minors. Students in younger and younger grades are experimenting with their use. While these are legal for adult use, they are incredibly addictive and harmful to minors. Throughout this year, I will include information related to preventing the use of vapes by our teens and pre-teens. Please reach out to our office if you are in need of additional resources or support in preventing the use of vapes by your child!
