Allstar Newsletter- Family

๐ŸŽฎ Welcome Back, Antelope Allstars!

We are so excited to welcome everyone back for another amazing school year at Antelope Elementary! We hope you enjoyed a wonderful, relaxing summer filled with fun, family, and lasting memories. Our staff has been working hard all summer preparing for an incredible year, and we can't wait to welcome our Allstars back on Thursday, August 20!

๐ŸŒŸ First Day of School

  • First day for Kindergartenโ€“6th Grade: Thursday, August 20
  • The first two days (August 20 & 21) are Early Out Days.
  • Kindergarten: Parents will pick up students each day at the designated Kindergarten pickup area behind the school.

๐ŸŽฒ 2026-2027 Theme

Game On โ€“ Everyone Belongs, Everyone Plays!

This year's theme celebrates teamwork, inclusion, and making sure every student feels like they belong. To help us kick off the year in style, we invite everyone to wear their favorite game-themed shirt on the first day of school!

๐Ÿ“š Class Placements

Our teachers and staff spend many hours thoughtfully creating balanced class lists that support the academic and social success of every student.

Class schedules and teacher assignments will be available on Friday, August 14 at 4:00 p.m. through your myDSD Guardian Portal.

Because so much care goes into creating each classroom community, teacher placements will not be changed once they are released. We encourage you to give your child's teacher an opportunity to build a relationship with your studentโ€”we are confident your child will have a wonderful year!

If you have not yet created your myDSD Guardian Account, please scan the QR code below. Your myDSD account allows you to:

  • View attendance
  • Check lunch balances
  • Monitor grades and assessment scores
  • Complete required school forms
  • Receive important school information

If you need assistance creating your account, our office staff will be happy to help. You can also purchase the Device Protection on your MYDSD, this is something that has to be paid each year at the beginning to cover any damage to the device. The fee will close on October 1.

๐ŸŽ‰ Back-to-School Night

Tuesday, August 18 | 4:00โ€“5:30 p.m.

Join us for an exciting, open-house style evening!

Each student will receive a Game Card to collect tokens by visiting stations throughout the school. Be sure to stop by:

  • PTA
  • Before & After School Program
  • School Counselor
  • Free & Reduced Lunch Information
  • Community Resources
  • And many more!

๐Ÿ“– Parent Presentation

Administrators will be giving a brief presentation in the library. We ask that every family attend and sign the required acknowledgment form afterward.

๐ŸŽˆ Community Back-to-School Bash

North Davis Junior High School

6:00โ€“7:30 p.m.

After visiting Antelope Elementary, continue the fun at the district Back-to-School Bash!

Enjoy:

  • FREE dinner
  • Games and activities
  • Cotton candy
  • Community resources
  • Haircuts
  • Immunizations
  • And much more!

๐ŸŽ Important New Food Permission (HB 402)

Due to Utah's new HB 402 legislation, families must complete a permission form if they would like their child to receive:

  • Classroom celebration treats
  • Birthday treats
  • Food incentives
  • Snacks brought from outside the school
  • Other foods that do not meet HB 402 requirements

The permission form is available through myDSD and only needs to be completed once for the school year.

If permission is not provided, the school cannot distribute foods containing ingredients prohibited under HB 402 during the school day.

Parents may still pack these items in their child's lunch.

We have also included a list of HB 402-approved snack ideas in the attached PDF.

๐Ÿชช School Safety

The safety of our students remains our highest priority.

Every visitor entering the school must present a valid photo ID.

Even if our staff knows you personally, everyone must check in through the office. We appreciate your understanding and support as we follow district safety procedures.

โญ First Day Arrival

We have a fun welcome planned beginning at 8:30 a.m.

To help make the morning run smoothly:

  • Students will enter the building after the welcome celebration.
  • Parents will say goodbye outside the building.
  • Staff members and Student Council leaders will be throughout the school helping students find their classrooms and making sure everyone feels comfortable and welcomed.

We know the first day can be exciting, and our team is ready to help every child have a successful start!

๐Ÿฝ๏ธ Free & Reduced Lunch Application

Every family is encouraged to complete a Free & Reduced Lunch Application, even if you are unsure whether you qualify.

Families who qualify for Free or Reduced Lunch may also qualify for additional educational benefits and state funding that directly supports our school.

Currently:

  • Students who qualify for Free Lunch receive free breakfast and lunch.
  • Students who qualify for Reduced Lunch receive free lunch but pay the reduced price for breakfast.

Please take just a few minutes to complete the application using the QR code below.

๐ŸšŒ Volunteers

Planning to volunteer in classrooms or attend field trips?

All volunteers must complete a district background check before volunteering.

Please use the QR code below to complete the process.

๐Ÿ‘• Updated Student Dress Code

This year, the district has updated the student dress code.

Students may now wear:

  • Tank tops
  • Sleeveless shirts
  • Jerseys

as long as the shoulder straps are at least two finger-widths wide.

Thank you for your continued support as we work together to provide a safe, welcoming, and positive learning environment for every student.

โญ We Can't Wait to See You!

We are looking forward to another incredible year of learning, growth, belonging, and fun. Thank you for partnering with us to make Antelope Elementary such an amazing place.

Together, let's make this our best year yet...

Things to Know!

  • We are looking forward to another fantastic year!
  • The Antelope Student and Family Handbook for 2026-2027 school year is now available on our website. Here is the link to the handbook.
  • If your child chooses to bring a bike or scooter to school, they MUST be locked up. The school is not held responsible if a bike or scooter is stolen. The school is not responsible for lost or damaged bicycles and equipment brought by students. Please supply your child with a lock to secure their item to the bike/scooter stands. Scooters are not allowed inside the school. Skateboards are not allowed at Antelope Elementary and will not be allowed inside the classroom. Thank you for your understanding of this policy.
  • We have several new staff members throughout the building, and we are so excited to have them join our family!
  • Attendance and Timely Arrival- Parents please help to have your students here at the school on time. The first bell will ring at 8:50, the late bell will ring at 8:55, your student will now be marked late and will need to check in at the office. If your student has not arrived at school by 9:30 a.m., an automated call will be generated letting the parent know their student has not arrived. We are implementing a new attendance incentive and they will want to be at school!

  • We have updated the dress code policy- Students shirts shall cover the studentโ€™s entire torso. All shirts, tops, and dresses are required to have straps at least 2 fingers wide (no spaghetti straps).
