Parents, Students, and Faculty,

Last week, as we returned from Fall Break, we were met with some unexpected technology challenges! Our technology team and staff have been working hard to get everything back up and running, and that work continues this week. In fact, those issues are the reason our newsletter is coming out today instead of yesterday! We appreciate everyone's patience as we work through these challenges.

While technology has certainly made things a little more difficult, learning hasn't stopped at SCMS! Our teachers have adjusted their lessons, found creative ways to keep students engaged, and continued moving forward with instruction. We appreciate their flexibility and dedication to making sure our students continue learning, even when things don't go quite as planned.

One of the delays caused by our technology issues has been the distribution of report cards. Once our systems are fully restored, we will print and send report cards home as soon as possible. We appreciate our families' understanding as we work to get those out.

Meanwhile, our Middle School basketball season is underway! Our teams will play at home Monday and Wednesday before traveling for away games on Thursday. We encourage everyone to come out and support our Indians as they get their season started!

Despite a few unexpected bumps in the road, we are looking forward to another great week at Seminole County Middle School! Challenges are part of the journey, and it's how we work together to overcome them that makes our school special. We will keep moving forward, Building the Tribe, and helping every student Belong. Grow. Achieve.

As you make plans throughout the year, we encourage families to use the holidays, breaks, and scheduled days off listed on this flyer for vacations, appointments, and other activities whenever possible. We know some absences are unavoidable, but every day in school matters! Planning ahead helps our students stay on track, connected, and ready to learn.

Be here. Be on time. Be ready to learn. Be Tribe Strong! 💚

This week, we are excited to spotlight our Middle School Paraprofessionals: Gina Daughtry, Sheila Lowry, and Ashley Miller! These ladies play an important role in supporting our teachers and students each day. Whether assisting with classroom activities, providing extra help to students, or helping keep things running smoothly, they are always willing to lend a hand. Their patience, dedication, and caring attitudes help create a positive learning environment where students can be successful. We appreciate all they do behind the scenes to help our students Belong, Grow, and Achieve as we continue Building the Tribe!

Our Middle School students participated in the Be a Winner Assembly last week, sponsored by the Bowen Association. The program encouraged students to make good choices, take care of themselves, and think about how their decisions can impact their lives and futures.

The assembly was a great reminder that being a winner isn't just about what you accomplish, but also about the choices you make and the way you treat yourself and others. We appreciate the Bowen Association for providing this opportunity and sharing such a positive message with our students as we continue Building the Tribe at SCMS!

Our Good Standing students enjoyed a sweet treat as they celebrated their hard work and positive choices with an Ice Cream Sundae Party in the cafeteria! Sponsored by our wonderful PTO, students were treated to delicious ice cream sundaes as a reward for maintaining good attendance, behavior, and grades.

Our Good Standing celebrations are a way to recognize students who are making positive choices and taking responsibility for their success. We appreciate our PTO for helping us celebrate these students and making the day a little sweeter!

Congratulations to our Good Standing students! Keep up the great work as we continue to Belong, Grow, and Achieve at SCMS!
