October Edition October Edition

Welcome to the Ber Months!

I just LOVE this time of year! The cooler weather has finally made its way in!

It has been so fun to watch everyone settle into the school year. I love seeing those little lightbulb moments when a new skill suddenly clicks, and it makes me just as happy to see friendships beginning to grow and blossom throughout the building.

One of my favorite things about fall is having a few more reasons to slow down and enjoy time together as a family. There are so many fun things happening around Tulsa and Broken Arrow this season—from pumpkin patches and the Tulsa State Fair to HallowZOOeen at the Tulsa Zoo.

Whether you head out for a big fall adventure or just spend an evening outside enjoying the cooler weather, I hope your family finds a little time to make some sweet memories together. Those are often the moments our kiddos remember most! 🎃🍂

Love,

Mrs. Hundley

Reaching for the Stars! Reaching for the Stars!

One of our school goals is helping children recognize and build their own name. Knowing their name helps children develop important early literacy skills, including letter recognition, letter order, and understanding that letters have meaning.

Try these simple activities at home this month:

🔎 Name Hunt
Write your child’s name on a piece of paper. Have them look for the letters in their name on cereal boxes, signs, books, magazines, or around the house.

🧩 Build My Name
Write each letter of your child’s name on a separate piece of paper, sticky note, or bottle cap. Mix up the letters and help your child put them back in the correct order.

🍪 Make It With What You Have
Build your child’s name using Play-Doh, cereal pieces, blocks, LEGO bricks, sticks, buttons, or other small items around the house.

👆 Trace My Name
Write your child’s name in large letters and let them trace it with their finger. For extra fun, try tracing in shaving cream, sand, flour, or rice.

👏 Name Cheer
Say your child’s name and cheer each letter together:
“M-A-Y-A — MAYA!”
Clap, stomp, or jump for each letter.

⭐ Family Tip: Start with helping your child recognize their whole name and the first letter of their name. As they become more confident, encourage them to notice and name the other letters and put them in order.

Most importantly, keep it fun! Just a few minutes of playful practice each day can make a big difference.
