Turning To Annual Competition Turning To Annual Competition

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aSf4ilVfwhQ

The 1st annual Alumni 7 on 7 Football tournament was an incredible day filled with nostalgia, camaraderie, and the spirit of Parkway athletics. Alumni and their families gathered on the field to play and cheer, making the event a resounding success. Spearheaded by Joshua Nunn [PWH'09]

and sponsored by the Parkway Alumni Association (PAA), the tournament exceeded expectations and left a lasting impression on all who participated.

From the moment the idea was proposed, there was an undeniable buzz of excitement. The prospect of alumni returning to their alma mater, donning their team colors, and reliving their high school glory days ignited a sense of anticipation. As word spread, more and more alumni expressed interest, eager to reconnect with old friends and forge new memories.

The PAA Executive Director, in reflecting on the event, remarked, "It's exciting to see the spirit of Parkway athletics continue to the next generation through something as simple as a flag football event. Many of our alumni are now Parkway parents, and providing their children with a fun afternoon seeing their mom or dad throw it back to their high school days is a really special moment." This echoed the collective sentiment of the organizers and participants alike.

The success of the inaugural tournament has set the stage for an annual tradition. Plans are already underway for the 2nd annual Alumni 7 on 7 Football tournament, scheduled to take place next summer. Anticipation is high, with alumni eagerly looking forward to another day of friendly competition, reminiscing, and celebration.

Granting Dreams Success!

Recently we received this note of gratitude from one of our elementary Granting Dreams recipients. What an exciting opportunity we have each year to help make the dreams of many Parkway students possible!

Thank you so much for granting my dream!! This grant allowed me to go to The Challenger learning center. We did so many fun science activities such as, Building a viking rocket, going to Mars, and SCUBA diving.

When we built the viking rocket, we had to use super glue, glue a lot of cardboard tubes, and explosives. Finally when it was done, we launched it. Mine went a lot farther and we spent an hour trying to find our rockets, but in the end, we couldn't find mine. Even though we couldn't find mine, It was still a lot of fun!

When we were going to Mars, we had quite the experience. I was MED (Medical) which is a position that I love to work in. During my experience, There was this one issue that our navigation (NAV) had to troubleshoot and it was pretty funny. It was because the Nav on the other end (He was in the spacecraft with us) was yelling through the walkie - talkie, "TURN THE VOLUME UP!!" and everyone in the spacecraft could hear, and we started laughing so hard!

When we went SCUBA diving, we first got our gear on, and started the lesson. After we went snorkeling, which in my opinion, wasn't that fun, but in the end, it was a great experience. After lunch, we were split into two groups and I was in the group that was SCUBA diving first. Our task was to build a box out of pipes. It may seem easy when I type it because it was a human sized box in the water. When we switched I was in the snorkeling group now. Our task was to collect these minerals that were shapes like little circles. It was a super fun day!

Thank you so much for granting my dream!!

Dear Alumni,

Greetings from the Alumni Association! With summer in full swing, we hope you're enjoying quality time with your loved ones, soaking up the sun, and relishing in the joys of the season. As we bask in the warmth of summer, we also look ahead to the fall and the exciting events planned for the upcoming 2023-24 school year.

Our alumni association is already hard at work, preparing for a series of events that aim to bring our alumni community together and raise funds to support the various programs we offer to Parkway students and staff. We are eager to reconnect with you and provide opportunities for alumni to stay engaged with the Parkway community.

If you haven't yet had the chance to explore our main programs, we encourage you to visit our website. Take a few minutes to familiarize yourself with the initiatives we support and the impact they have on current students and staff. Your continued involvement and support play a crucial role in shaping the future of Parkway.

Mark your calendars! We are excited to announce the upcoming annual Golf Tournament, a beloved event that combines friendly competition with the opportunity to reconnect with old friends and classmates. Additionally, during homecoming weekend at each of our high schools, we will be hosting various class reunions. These reunions provide a fantastic opportunity to reminisce, catch up with former classmates, and celebrate the memories that have shaped our lives.

We encourage you to stay tuned for further details on these events. Save the dates, spread the word among your fellow alumni, and make plans to join us. We cannot wait to see familiar faces, share stories, and create new memories together.

We encourage you to stay connected with us through our website, social media channels, and alumni newsletters. These platforms provide a wealth of information about upcoming events, alumni spotlights, and opportunities to get involved.

Thank you for being an integral part of the Parkway legacy. Your continued support helps us maintain the strong bond we share as alumni, and it ensures that current and future generations of Parkway students receive the best possible education.

Enjoy the remainder of your summer, and we look forward to reconnecting with you soon!
