At Shiloh Park Intermediate School, RISE represents the schoolwide expectations we have for ourselves and our students. These expectations guide our daily actions, decisions, and interactions as we work together to create a safe, respectful, and supportive learning environment where every student can succeed.

R. Respect Everyone, I. Act with Integrity, S. Choose Safety, E. Pursue Excellence

October Focus: Integrity

This month, with our focus on Integrity, we are teaching our students that a form of respect is shown by keeping our hands to ourselves.

Integrity means doing the right thing, even when no one is watching. We are encouraging students to be honest, take responsibility for their choices, keep their promises, and treat others fairly. Integrity also means admitting when we make a mistake and making an effort to learn from it.

Families can support this month's focus by talking with their children about the importance of honesty, accountability, and making positive choices at home, at school, and in the community.

🎯 Our Attendance Goal 🎯 Our Attendance Goal

95% Each Month

Our schoolwide goal is to maintain a 95% attendance rate each month. We know that students are most successful when they are present, on time, and ready to learn each day.

At the end of September, we proudly recognized 223 students for achieving perfect attendance! We celebrate these students for their commitment to being present and ready to learn each day. Regular attendance is an important part of academic success, building relationships, and staying engaged in the classroom.

Thank you to our families for supporting consistent school attendance and helping our students succeed. Let's continue working together toward our schoolwide attendance goal of 95% or higher each month!

Quarter 2: Growing Together! Quarter 2: Growing Together!

We are officially in Quarter 2, and we will continue to focus on providing high-quality, grade-level instruction that supports academic growth and achievement for all students. Our commitment remains centered on High Expectations, Strong Relationships, and Student Success. We will continue to monitor student progress, use data to guide instruction, and provide the support and interventions students need to succeed.

How Can Families Support Academic Growth at Home?

Families play an important role in their child's academic success! Here are a few simple ways to support learning at home:
  • Make Reading a Daily Habit: Encourage your child to read for at least 20 minutes each day. Ask questions about what they read to check for understanding.
  • Practice Math Skills: Practice multiplication facts, fractions, problem-solving, or real-world math skills while cooking, shopping, or managing money.
  • Check Assignments and Grades: Review your child's assignments, grades, and progress regularly. Encourage them to complete and submit work on time.
  • Establish a Homework Routine: Set aside a consistent time and quiet space for homework, studying, and completing projects.
  • Ask Questions About Learning: Ask your child, “What did you learn today?” “What challenged you?” and “What is one thing you can improve tomorrow?”
  • Encourage Attendance and Punctuality: Help your child arrive at school on time and attend every day. Every school day is an opportunity to learn and grow!
  • Stay Connected with Teachers: Communicate with your child's teachers when you have questions or concerns and celebrate your child's progress along the way.

Cold Weather Cold Weather

As colder weather approaches, please ensure that your child comes to school dressed appropriately for the temperatures. Students should wear warm coats and other weather-appropriate clothing to help keep them comfortable and safe throughout the school day.

Students may have opportunities to go outside for recess or other activities, weather permitting, so it is important that they are prepared for the colder temperatures. If your family needs assistance obtaining cold-weather clothing for your child, please reach out to the school so we can work together to identify available resources.
