Art Club Paints New Mural

Mr. Mane and the 5th grade Art Club just finished the new mural in the cafeteria! The students started the mural back in January and slowly worked on it every two weeks. Each 5th grader first helped prime over the wall, then Mr. Mane sketched out the "Golden Eagle" design for the students to fill in. They started by filling in the large blue background, then moved on to the light blue ribbon. Following that they painted the golden eagles and the letters. The final part was to paint the black outline around the images and words. The last step was for Mr. Mane to add in the shadows and the highlights throughout the whole mural.

The whole process took about four months and was funded by the Washington student council. The kids were excited to make this happen and to leave a positive lasting impact here at Washington before they head off to middle school!

Alice in Dairyland visits Washington

Fourth grade had Alice in Dairyland visit the classroom and present about agriculture in Wisconsin. Students learned all about how Wisconsin is the top producer of many products like cranberries and green beans. This tied into the Wisconsin history they have been learning about this year

Thank you to our district families and community

We want to thank our school district staff and families along with our community for all of the support following the loss of a cherished Washington staff member, Mrs. Kelley Marotta. Having been an educator in the school district for 31 years, Mrs. Marotta positively influenced many, many lives. She will be greatly missed.

If you wish to contribute financial support to her two college-bound daughters, feel free to do so at First Citizens State Bank in Whitewater. The account includes Mrs. Marotta's name and contributions can be dropped off in-person or mailed to FCSB, 207 W. Main St. Whitewater, WI 53190. Thank you.

Congratulations Mrs. Ramirez Congratulations Mrs. Ramirez

'Children are born with wings. Teachers help them fly.' - Shelby Stollery.

Teaching has been the most meaningful career I could have had, and I did have!

It has been a joy to teach our eaglets for the past two and a half decades. I taught a lot. I learned a lot. We made some amazing memories. We made some great friendships. I have a special forever place in my heart just for my students. Fly, Eagle, Fly."

"He estado enseñando en Washington Elementary durante 26 años. Mi número total de años enseñando es 38.

'Los niños nacen con alas. Los maestros los ayudan a volar'. - Stollery Shelby.

Mrs. Weisbrod

I started at Lincoln as a long-term substitute and stayed for 21 years before moving to Washington for the last 12 years. I have taught 6th grade, 5th grade, 4th grade, 4th/5th, and 3rd grade. I guess you can tell that I love to learn and take on new challenges. I am very thankful for all of the wonderful staff, students, and parents that I have worked with over my career. I will leave with a heart full of memories from my Washington family. I am excited for the future and all the things I have yet to learn!"

Mrs. Alvarado

Mrs. Alvarado has been helping to feed our students for the past 9 years in the cafeteria with a smile on her face. Thank you Mrs. Alvarado for taking such great care of us.

From Mrs. Alvarado....

"I have worked in our cafeteria for 9 years. I love Washington School and the staff. I loved watching the kids grow through the years and it was a bonus to watch my granddaughters come through our kitchen. I enjoy the kids with their jokes, dancing, and remarks at my window. I will cherish the memories with my Washington Eagles family."
