PAWS SCHOOLWIDE EXPECTATIONS
π We Are an "A" School! π
Dear VOE Families,
What an amazing start to the school year! Our hallways and classrooms have been filled with excitement, learning, and smiles as students settle into their routines and build new friendships. We are so proud of how quickly our Panthers have adapted to the school year and embraced our school expectations.
Thank you for your partnership, encouragement, and support. Working together as a school community helps create the positive learning environment our students deserve. We are excited for all that lies ahead and look forward to a successful year filled with growth, achievement, and Panther Pride.
Attendance Matters
Consistent attendance and punctuality are important foundations for student success. Arriving on time and staying for the full school day allows students to fully participate in instruction, build routines, and stay connected to classroom learning.
Our instructional day is especially valuable this year, and every minute counts. Thank you for helping your child arrive on time and remain in school for the entire day whenever possible.
Important School Hours
πͺ Doors Open: 7:45 AM
π School Day: 8:25 AM - 2:55 PM
For student safety, students may not wait outside the school without an adult present. Please ensure your child arrives at school no earlier than 7:45 a.m. unless supervised by an adult.
Students who arrive after 8:25 a.m. will be marked tardy. Establishing strong attendance habits include:
- Dropping students off on time each morning.
- Picking students up promptly at dismissal.
- Minimizing tardies and absences whenever possible.

Lunch and Snack
To help keep our campus safe and healthy, we ask that students bring only the amount of snack they can reasonably enjoy during their lunch period. Small portions are encouraged.
Any food not consumed during lunch cannot be saved for later and will need to be discarded. This practice helps us minimize potential choking hazards and maintain a clean learning environment for everyone. Thank you for your understanding and support.
Panther Pride
We continue to be impressed by the kindness, responsibility, and respect our students demonstrate each day. Whether helping a classmate, following expectations, or showing perseverance in the classroom, our Panthers are making us proud.
Thank you for reinforcing these positive habits at home as we work together to help every child succeed.
Principal's Message
As we move further into the school year, I want to thank you for trusting us with your children each day. It is a privilege to partner with you in their education and growth.
When families and schools work together, amazing things happen. Thank you for your continued support, communication, and commitment to your child's success. Together, we will continue creating a school community where every student feels welcomed, supported, safe, and inspired to achieve their very best.
With appreciation,
Mrs. Ferro

πΈ Panther Pass Bridge Safety Reminder
The safety of our students is our top priority. Families and students who walk to and from school are asked to use the Panther Pass Bridge when traveling to and from campus. Students should not cross SR 29, as it is a busy roadway and crossing is dangerous.
For your convenience, the Panther Pass Bridge is open on school days from 6:15 AM to 3:20 PM.
We appreciate your partnership in helping us keep all students safe during arrival and dismissal. Please review this expectation with your child and encourage them to use the bridge each day.
Together, we can ensure a safer journey to and from school for all of our Panthers. πΎ

βARRIVAL & DISMISSAL PROCEDURES
Please help us to keep our students safe and our school running smoothly by adhering to following procedures at VOE:
- If your child is tardy, you the parent must accompany him/her inside to the front office. Dropping off of students in front of the school is not allowed.
- To ensure a smooth dismissal and keep all students safe, any changes in your child's transportation must be communicated to the front office by 2:00 PM. This gives us enough time to notify teachers and make necessary arrangements. Please call 377-8600 to make any changes in transportation for your child.
- After 2:30, dismissal will take place through the car line only.
- Pre-K students will only be release to a parent with an ORANGE car sign or walker card.
- Kindergarten and first grade students will only be released to an authorized pick-up, including older siblings, if they present the ORANGE walker card or orange car sign.
π Car Riders:
All parents picking up by car must remain in their vehicles.
Students will be called to the nearest numbered post (1β6) and assisted into the car by a staff member.
Once all students are loaded and it is safe to do so, both lines will be released, and the process will be repeated.
π Car Rider Signs:
Every car must display the official VOE ORANGE car rider sign in the center of the dashboard.
If you do not have a sign, you will be asked to show ID while we verify you are on the approved pick-up list.
This may require parking and waiting or walking to the office to sign your child out.
For safety, parents may not park and walk up to the car line to pick up a student. In such cases, you must go to the office to complete sign-out.
πΆ Walkers:
Parents or authorized pick-ups will receive a VOE ORANGE dismissal card for walker pick-up.
This card must be shown to staff at the walker pick up location in order for your child to be released.
The card is wallet-sized for convenience.
Kindergarten and 1st Grade students may walk with an older sibling who received an orange walker card from the parent.
Without the card, staff must verify authorization, which may delay dismissal.
Students in Pre-K will not be released without an adult present.
β In the event of rain and lightning in the area, we will utilize a single car line to ensure student and staff safety. Walkers will remain in the front office and may be picked up by car. Once the rain stops and there is no lightning in the area, students will be allowed to walk home as usual.
We appreciate your support and understanding. There may be delays during the first few weeks of school. Your patience and cooperation will help us ensure the safety of every student.
Thank you for helping us keep our VOE Panthers safe!

COUNSELOR'S CORNER
This month, students have been learning about responsibility. Responsibility means doing what is expected, making good choices, and being accountable for our actions even when no one is watching.
At school, students can show responsibility by:
β’ Arriving prepared and ready to learn
β’ Following classroom and school expectations
β’ Completing assignments and doing their best
β’ Taking care of their belongings and school materials
β’ Keeping their learning spaces clean
β’ Using time wisely
β’ Admitting mistakes and working to make better choices
β’ Asking for help when they need it
Responsibility is also important at home. Children can practice being responsible by completing homework, following family rules and routines, cleaning up after themselves, taking care of their belongings, helping with age-appropriate chores, and keeping promises.
We will start practicing the social skill of greeting people when we see them. Saying βGood morning,β βHello,β or offering a friendly smile shows kindness and respect. These simple greetings help others feel noticed, valued, and welcome.
Next month, we will focus on cooperation. Students will learn that cooperation means working together, listening to others, sharing ideas and materials, taking turns, and helping the group reach a common goal.
In partnership,
Mrs. Anthony
VOE Guidance Counselor
COACHES' CORNER
Quarter 1 is off to a great start! Our students have jumped into their ELA curriculum and are working hard to grow as readers. Across grade levels, students are learning how to approach both literary and informational texts, and many of our grade levels will soon be taking their first Module Assessment!
We have also completed our i-Ready Inform Assessment, which means itβs time to start working toward our Quarter 1 i-Ready goals: complete 45 minutes of i-Ready each week and maintain an 80% lesson pass rate! Students who meet their i-Ready goals by the end of Quarter 1 on October 9th will receive a special invitation to our i-Ready Tailgate Party here at school! We canβt wait to celebrate our students and all of their hard work!
Families, you are an important part of our team! Please continue encouraging your child to try their best and read every day. Every page and every bit of practice helps build a stronger reader! Thank you for your continued support and for being part of our team!

MATH CORNER
We are off to a fantastic start in mathematics across grades K-5! As we begin the school year, our focus is on developing strong number sense, building problem-solving skills, and encouraging students to explain their mathematical thinking. Through daily instruction, meaningful math conversations, and consistent practice, our Panthers are gaining the confidence and skills needed for success.
One important way families can support this growth is by ensuring that students complete their homework assignments. Homework provides valuable opportunities for students to practice and reinforce the concepts they are learning in class, helping them build fluency and deepen their understanding. Together, we are laying a strong foundation for a successful year of mathematical learning and achievement!
We got this, Panthers!
