2024-2025 Year in Review 2024-2025 Year in Review

Our annual year-in-review edition of Community Conversations highlights the many achievements of our students, staff, and district across academics, the arts, and athletics. Year after year, our students, staff, and entire district community continue to excel, and the 2024-2025 school year was no exception.

Our cheerleading, varsity boys tennis, and girls tennis teams along with individuals on the track and field, wrestling, and boys swimming and diving teams all brought home PAC Championship titles, showcasing the strength of our athletic programs. Students also shined in the arts and STEM, with standout performances including a first-place win at the PSEA Art Exhibition, a top finish in the Mid-Atlantic Percussion Society competition, and four teams qualifying for the TEAMS national competition. Academically, seven students were named National Merit Scholarship finalists, and our elementary and middle school level students made Methacton proud competing at county-level academic competitions. In their inaugural year, our Esports team made an impressive debut by advancing to the PIEA State Championships—a testament to the dedication and skill of our coaches, advisors, and students. Our educators were celebrated as well, with Michelle Johnson of Woodland Elementary receiving the Citadel Heart of Learning Award. With over $20.5 million in scholarships awarded to the Class of 2025 and the district again named a Best Community for Music Education, it’s clear that excellence continues to define our school community.

This is just a sampling of the many amazing accomplishments from the 2024-2025 school year. As we reflect on these milestones, we also want to acknowledge the vital role of all staff members and celebrate the individual successes and personal growth of every student—each achievement, no matter how small, contributes to the strength and spirit of our schools.

To the members of our graduating Class of 2025: I wish you courage, purpose, and pride as you step into your next chapter. For the students returning next year: I look forward to another year of growth, learning, and achievement.

that took place across the district in May...

ARROWHEAD ARROWHEAD

Students Compete in Math 24 Competition

A group of Arrowhead students joined students from Eagleville to compete in the annual Montgomery County Intermediate Unit (MCIU) Math 24 competition. The competition challenges students to use mathematical equations to make the four numbers on a given card total the number 24. The MCIU Math 24 champion was Arrowhead 4th grader Melody Lian! Congratulations to Melody and all of the competitors!

EAGLEVILLE EAGLEVILLE

Eagleville Holds Picnic For Graduating 4th Graders

Eagleville fourth graders enjoyed their end-of-year picnic at the Lower Providence Park. Students had an amazing time gathering as a grade level with their teachers and peers for activities, games, and lots of food! Eagleville is incredibly proud of this group and wishes them all the best in their next chapter at Skyview.

WOODLAND WOODLAND

2nd Grade Teacher Earns Heart of Learning Award

Congratulations to second grade teacher, Mrs. Michelle Johnson, who earned the Citadel Heart of Learning Award! This award was created more than two decades ago to recognize local teachers who go above and beyond to support their students, families, and colleagues. Mrs. Johnson was selected based on the positive nominations from our community. We are so proud that Mrs. Johnson is a part of our Methacton family!

WORCESTER WORCESTER

Worcester Community Digs Into Garden Revitalization

Worcester’s Home and School Vice President, Erin Hillyard, led an effort to clean up Worcester’s school garden! On four different Saturdays, several parents and students came out to help weed, fertilize, plant, and mulch this special area of Worcester. Some First Grade students added to the garden by planting seeds as well! This project was a true labor of love, and we appreciate the families who took time out of their weekend to help revitalize the beautiful garden and bring some more joy to our community!

SKYVIEW SKYVIEW

Students Take Learning on the Road

Outdoor Ed returned to Skyview! This month, the 5th Graders visited College Settlement Camp in Horsham for a 2-day, 1-night field trip where they focused on cooperative problem solving and engaged in lessons with the natural world they live in. Students studied animals, splashed through the creek looking for macro invertebrates, quartz, and crayfish, created forest housing, and discovered the fun things to see "outside" on nature hikes. Although many of the trips were rainy, they all had a terrific time on their trips!

ARCOLA ARCOLA

Students Excel in State Science Competition

Congratulations to the members of the Arcola Science Fair team who competed in the Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science competition at Penn State this month. Five students earned first place awards: Anika Dave, Lana Nijinsky, Claire Kwon, Ridhi Walia, and Camille Leggett. Camille also earned the team's only perfect score and a special award for chemistry! Second place awards went to Bryn Hamilton and Caden Zhang. Great job to all members of the team!

INCubatoredu Teams Present Final Pitches

The eight INCubatoredu teams presented their final pitches for their self-created products on May 21. Each year, the Methacton Education Foundation donates funds to the MHS INCubatoredu program, an experiential learning curriculum that tasks teams of students with identifying a problem and creating a solution. Each team produces a product or service that attempts to solve that problem via a startup business, and they pitch their product to a panel of industry experts from the community. Congratulations to the the winning team, Nature's Nails, created by Sol Martin, Dhruv Nail, Ellis McKenzie! Stay Stocked, created by Jillian McTamney, Nickolas Remish & Evan Jones, took second place. Learn more about INCubatoredu here!

Methacton Honored as Best Community for Music Education

For the ninth year in a row, Methacton School District has been recognized as one of the Best Communities for Music Education by The NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants) Foundation! This esteemed designation highlights our deep and ongoing commitment to fostering exceptional music education for every student.

Now in its 26th year, the Best Communities for Music Education award celebrates K-12 districts across the U.S. that go above and beyond in providing access to and excellence in music programs. This year, more than 1,000 public, private, charter, and parochial schools and districts received this distinguished honor for their outstanding musical offerings. Our qualification for this recognition involved a comprehensive review, where Methacton provided in-depth details on aspects like music program funding, curriculum, student involvement, instructional quality, and facilities.

Thank you to our music teachers for fostering a successful and supportive environment so all students can experience the power of music!
