Parents and Family Members,

Family Conferences:

Family Conferences will be held Monday, October 19th and Tuesday, October 20th from 4:15-7:45pm, and again on Thursday, October 22 from 12:00-4:15 pm.

By Wednesday, September 30th, all families will receive a form to indicate time preferences for conferences. Please complete the form for each child at Miller Park and return to school. Conference times will be given on a first come, first serve basis!

Our expectation is to connect with all families during conferences. Attendance is expected so teachers can provide meaningful information about your child's progress. Please help us continue our streak of 16 years of PERFECT conference attendance!

Daily attendance has an incredible impact on student success. I want to personally thank all of you for your commitment to getting your students to school every day and on time. Weekly Perfect Attendance Prizes are helping to further motivate our Simba's as well. We have shown incredible growth in our attendance rates. We truly appreciate your support!

Behavior incentive: Students with 1 or less PAC/Office referrals between 9/1 and 10/16 will be able to attend our Movie Day. This will take place on 10/16 at Film Streams. Looking forward to celebrating our Simbas who are meeting and exceeding our school-wide expectations! Keep being respectful, responsible, and caring!

Best,

Mr. Dan Kirchhevel

Principal

Scholastic Picture Day

From the Health Office

School Physical and Immunizations for Head Start, Pre-K, Kindergarten or new to Miller Park

The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services requires each student to have an immunization record and a physical exam upon the start of school. The physical should include a vision and hearing exam. The vision exam may be completed by a health care provider or an optometrist. A complete dental check-up is strongly encouraged at this time also. Your child's physician will give you the documentation required for a school physical. Please turn in completed documentation to the Health Office.

Health Screenings Starting Soon

Following state regulations, the district completes health screenings annually on students in grades pre-K through 4th grade. The health office will begin health screenings soon. If there are any concerns found (vision, hearing, etc) you will be notified either by letter or phone call from the health office.

September Student of Distinction - Most Respectful

Attendance

Here at Miller Park we Strive for solid attendace! This means we want our Simbas in school all of the time! Students that are on time and in their seats, no later than 8:50 a.m. and that do not get checked out early, will be entered into a weekly drawing. There will be 5 names drawn in the weekly drawing. Check out our prize selection below!

For the past several years, there been a national focus on the impact that higher rates of student absenteeism have on the success on student achievement and standardized exams. While Miller Park's attendance has improved since Covid we are not where we want to be. Improving daily attendance remains a goal. There is a direct correlation between increased student attendance and student success.

What Parents Can Do:

Establish the expectations that students are in school every day. Ideally, working as best as possible to schedule family trips outside of school weeks is very helpful.
If you student/s must miss school, please call Ms. Mountain or Ms. Deal (531-299-1820) to inform us while your student/s will miss. If it is a medical absence, please provide a doctor's note as it helps us track absences each semester.

We hope this serves as an energizer and incentive to have our best attendance/academic achievement during the rest of the school year. We have fantastic teachers here at Miller Park. If your students are in school on time and all day, they will succeed, and the data supports that. As always, thank you to the students and families for your support. You make Miller Park an amazing school community!

SCHOOL HOURS

SCHOOL HOURS ARE 8:35-4:05

Our school hours are from 8:35-4:05. Students will not be able to enter the building until 8:30am. If a child is being checked out of school during the school day, an adult from their approved list must come to the front desk to check them out. After 3:45, students may not be checked out early as classes are wrapping up their day.

You must have an appointment to visit your child(ren)'s classroom. Instructional time is important and valuable, and should have minimal interruptions.

Thank you!
