From the Principal's Desk

Hello Little Viking Families,

Please review the upcoming dates below so you know what days have a change in our typical daily schedule. And don't forget to join us for the end of year celebration and BOOK FAIR hosted by FTC at Swartz on May 30th from 5-7pm.

As the year comes to a close, we are completing a tech check on all student devices. If you student's chromebook or charger needs repair, please send it to school for it to be assessed. First grade students that are registered for the 2025-26 school year will be able to keep their chromebooks over the summer. If your student is in Kindergarten, you are not attending SC next year, or your child is not registered, your student's chromebook will be collected on May 28th.

Kindergarten parents, please send your chromebook charger back to school on May 27th when we return from Memorial Day weekend.

Preschool parents, please read the important update regarding class sections for next school year below.

We still have some students completing their iready tests and those reports will be sent home next week. We have so much growth to celebrate! I am so proud of our teachers and students for their hard work this year.

Upcoming Field Trips/Dates:

Tuesday 5/27 - Clap Out Field Trip. Each year we take an in house field trip to AMS to surprise the 8th graders after their graduation practice. We line their path with all their former teachers and younger students from the district to celebrate their accomplishments! (Because of timing, this does not include PreK).

Thursday 5/29 - K/1st Annual Zoo Field Trip

Friday 5/30 - PreK Step Up Day *OFFSITE THIS YEAR* - Due to construction and parking constraints, our PreK Step Up Day is going to be moved to the Heritage Center of the Oakbrook Terrace Park District. PK students do rehearse at school leading up to step up day and siblings will get the opportunity to watch their dress rehearsal earlier in the week.

Monday 6/2 - Field Day - Students will enjoy field day activities on our last full day of school!

Tuesday 6/3 - Last day of school (10:50am dismissal)

Have a great weekend everyone,

-Mrs. Scanlan

Please log in to Skyward, click on the Returning Student section, update your information, and submit it as soon as possible. Just a reminder, there are no registration fees this year!

Thank you for your prompt attention! If you have any questions or need assistance, please contact your school's office at 630-832-6122.

Important PreK Changes for next year!

Hello PK families,

Salt Creek's numbers and grade level needs are shifting next year. Because of this, there will only be three sections of Preschool to start the 2025-26 school year. Right now, those classes are NOT full, but we encourage you to make sure your student is registered to secure your spot. Once full, there will be a waitlist.
There will be ONE AM preschool session and TWO PM preschool sessions next year.

Another exciting update, is that students in preschool that will be entering Kindergarten in the 2026-27 school year, will have the opportunity to attend a beginning level STEM class (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) in our BRAND NEW STEM classroom! We are excited to begin expanding STEM opportunities to our preschool students.

(This class will only be offered to students in the PM session.)

If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to the preschool team or administration.

Tech Check!

Kindergarten parents, please send your child's chromebook charger back to school on May 27th when we return from Memorial Day weekend.

Summer Chromebook Use

It is important to note, the District will not be actively monitoring the activity until school resumes and students will only be allowed to access district approved educational materials. This only applies to students in grades 1 through 7 who are fully registered for the 25-26 school year. Summer technology will not be an option for our current kindergarten students, as those Chromebooks remain in Kindergarten each year.

We will not be able to do repairs throughout the summer, so if your child's device has any issues during this time, please email their school's administrative assistant and principal. We can work together on a solution that works best for you.

If you would like to opt-out of having your child keep their device for the summer, please email Gerrie Aulisa at gaulisa@saltcreek48.org. If no response is received, and your child is fully registered, then your child will be sent home with their Chromebook.

Standard Response Protocol

Salt Creek District 48 has adopted an emergency protocol response from the I Love U Guys Foundation. This is a program that has been adopted by many of the schools within DuPage County. Over the summer, the administrative team attended training on the protocol and is passing along the training to all staff. We also want to make families aware of the five different protocols so you can be familiar with the language you may hear your child or the school use.

Payments & Fees Payments & Fees

zoom_out_map

In your parent portal in skyward, click on the fee payment tile, then in the far right hand top corner click on the "make online payments" button. This will take you to Revtrak. Make sure to sign up before you try to make payment. Once you can sign in, click the Make a Payment button in the middle of the page. This new service will streamline the payments so you can make a payment or set up recurring payments. This is directly connected to Skyward so you see the money immediately go to your child's account. If you have any questions please email or call your school office.

Preschool Payments: Once in Revtrak you will see in the upper right area an arrow next to SHOP. Click the arrow and pick Preschool in order for you to complete your payment. If you have any questions please email or call the Salt Creek school office.
