Principal Update
Hello Mahpiya Luta High School families,
I hope everyone had a good weekend even though it was a little shorter than what we are used to. I am excited to get our second week of the second quarter under way! Should be a regular week this week! Last week we had an awesome homecoming. Big shout out to all the students who participated and got involved with the homecoming festivities! Another big shout out to all the staff for their help and assistance with making this homecoming awesome! Finally a big big shout out to Tyrell Andrews for his tireless effort in planning this years homecoming and putting in the work to make last week fun for the students!
Also Our AISES Students came back on Sunday from their trip to Portland to learn and present their own research! Big Shout out to Madison Poljan and Matt Politte for their work in making this trip happen! Our young women in Science group took off on Sunday for their Science trip to the Tetons! Huge shout out to Cora Haddad and Halona Brewer for doing this with them! I will have pictures of both trips on my next newsletter I promise!!
Also huge shout out to our Cross Country runners who will be representing Mahpiya Luta at State Cross Country! For the boys Rylan Cuny, Hoksila Sharpfish and Antoine Garnier will be going to state for the boys. For the girls Tahca Zephier won Regions and will also be heading to State! Good luck to all of our runners as they go out to Heart Ranch on Saturday!
This week we have our Teca Wacipi at Mahpiya Luta starting at Noon. Please see the Superintendent newsletter for more details! I encourage all of our families and Mahpiya Luta to come out and support our dancers, singers and hand games players!
Our football team will also be hosting round 1 of playoffs on Friday at 2pm and two volleyball games this week! So lots going on this week lots of events and activities for our students to showcase their awesome talents and the gifts that make them incredible!
Special Notes and reminders:
Cold and Strep season is upon us. Please be aware if your students have sore throats, runny nose, body aches or other upper respiratory issues.
Just a reminder about a couple of our policies: our attendance policies as well as our eligibility policy. Students arriving late or tardy can add up to absences and affect participation in sports. Also as we start to move into the year and homework starts getting assigned more frequently please help and encourage your students to stay on top of their work so they can be eligible. Our attendance and eligibility policies are put in there to help students be successful both during High School and beyond. All of our policies are listed below and if you are always welcome to reach out to my office if you have any questions.
Other than that here is too another successful week full of growth and learning. If you have any questions please feel free to always reach me using the information below:

Health Reminders
Cold and Flu/Strep
Cold and Flu, along with strep, season is upon us again! Here are some things to keep everyone healthy:
🧼Wash your hands frequently with warm water and soap.
🤧Cover your cough and sneeze with your elbow or a tissue
😴Make sure you're getting ample rest every night.
Please DO NOT share anything with another student. This is an easy way to spread strep and any other sickness
🚰Bring your own water bottles and stay hydrated throughout the day.
