Cunha Intermediate School
Week of April 20th to April 24th
State Testing Next Week!
This is a friendly reminder that next week our students will begin California state testing. The CAASPP is an assessment administered in schools across California and is one of the measures used by the California Department of Education to help evaluate academic programs and student progress.
At Cunha, our teachers and students have worked hard to prepare, and we are proud of the effort that has gone into getting ready for these assessments. We appreciate your partnership in helping students feel confident and supported.
Here are a few ways you can help at home:
Encourage your child to do their best while remembering that one test does not define them or their overall abilities. It is simply one snapshot of their learning progress.
Remind your child to take their time, read each question carefully, and work thoughtfully through the assessment.
Help your child get a good night’s sleep and eat a healthy breakfast, either at home or at school, so they are ready to do their best.
A few logistical reminders:
There will be no zero period from April 27 through April 30 due to testing.
Testing will begin promptly after homeroom, so please help ensure your child arrives on time each day.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership. We appreciate all you do to help our students succeed.
Youth Cinema Project
There will be no YCP meetings this week due to state testing.

Hazel Health
We know that students learn best when they feel best. According to the National Center for Education Statistics: 70% of public schools say more students are seeking mental health services.
This school year, we’re proud to offer all students with $0 access to online therapy and counseling services, through our partnership with Hazel Health. Services are 100% safe and confidential.
Your student can speak 1-on-1 with a licensed therapist from the convenience of school or home, with your consent. Hazel Health provides high-quality care for all students — no matter their insurance or immigration status.
Hazel Health’s licensed therapists can help students build the tools and skills they need to succeed in and out of the classroom:
Improve communication and confidence
Build healthy friendships and relationships
Develop coping skills to manage emotions
Navigate academic stress and pressure
Hazel’s short-term online therapy program has been proven to reduce symptoms of common mental health concerns — and gives kids tools to cope with challenges they face at school and beyond. Students cannot receive care without your consent, so please take 5 minutes to sign up today at hazel.co.
Say Something Anonymous Reporting System
The Say Something-Anonymous Reporting System (ARS) program empowers students to be Upstanders and say something to a Trusted Adult when they recognize warning signs and threats. The Tip Line allows you to submit secure, anonymous safety concerns to help someone who may hurt themselves or others.
