NO SCHOOL ON MONDAY, AUGUST 17

Aloha Damien ʻOhana, (Repost of 8/16 email)

Due to inclement weather and flooding conditions affecting our community, Damien Memorial School will be closed on Monday, August 17, 2026. This decision is being made out of an abundance of caution, with the safety of our students, families, faculty, and staff as our highest priority. There will be no in-person classes, athletics, activities, or on-campus events on Monday.

At this time, we are thankful and prayerful that our Damien community—our students, families, faculty, and staff—is safe.

We extend our heartfelt mahalo to our first responders and to the many individuals working tirelessly to restore power, clear and repair roadways, maintain essential services, and support our communities. We are deeply grateful for their courage, dedication, and service. May God bless and protect these wonderful people and all those working to restore our community.

Stay safe, Monarchs!

Advanced Japanese language students travel to Japan!

Over the summer in June, 11 Japanese language students and Sensei Esdicul traveled to Japan for two weeks through the New Perspectives program with the Laurasian Institution. They went sightseeing, shopping, and eating throughout Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, and Nara. The most unique aspect of this trip was that they stayed with a host family in Mie prefecture, and attended Nabari Seihou high school for seven days. They met many friends, practiced their Japanese skills, and created lifelong memories.

A Successful 1st Saint Damien Volleyball Invitational in the books A Successful 1st Saint Damien Volleyball Invitational in the books

During Monarch Hour on Thursday, DMS students filled Bishop Scanlan gym with excitement to cheer on our Varsity Girls Volleyball team as they played against Bishop Montgomery of California. Although our Monarchs lost in two, the enthusiasm of the spectators and home court advantage raised the roof! Other teams in this weekʻs Invitational included Kapolei, Mid-Pacific, Campbell, and Castle. Go Lady Monarchs!
