Family Flyer

March 2022

Family FlyerMarch 2022
The Family Flyer is created by Genesee Intermediate School District (GISD) Early Literacy and Math coaches and coordinators. Our hope is that parents and caretakers, countywide, take advantage of the resources to support their kindergarten through third grade children with academics, nutrition, and well-being. New events and resources will be published monthly. Please contact Education and Learning at the GISD if you have any questions. The contact information is located at the bottom of this flyer. It is our hope that you find this resource useful and fun. Enjoy!

Play with your child to see who has more luck!

All you need are three dice, or you can pull out the Ace, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 out of a deck of cards and randomly flip over three cards from the deck. If you don't have dice or cards, there are many places online to use virtual dice like this one: Roll 3 Die. You can print the game board below by clicking on the photo or make your own! Family Online Resource

Make Any Time Learning Time!

TALK is a text service recommended by Marissa, the Youth Services Librarian at the Genesee District Library, for parents of young children to help prepare them for Kindergarten. The messages encourage parents to engage their children in exploratory learning and discovery.

"Parents can sign up to get 8-10 messages per month with fun activities you can do at home to help prepare little ones, ages 5 and under, for school success."

Click the image to view more of Marissa's recommendations and to see what else the GDL has to offer your family.

Tic-Tac-Alphabet Tic-Tac-Alphabet

Tic-Tac-Toe with a twist! You can print the boards from this link OR create boards of your own. Find five markers for each player. Possible marker choices include buttons, coins, scraps of colored paper, or paper clips. Here's the twist: If you want to place your marker on a spot, you have to think of a word that starts with that letter. Once you think of a word, say it, and put down your item to "mark the spot!" The first player with three markers in a row wins the game.

Click the Tic- Tac- Toe board to print boards as well as access a variety of other games.
