The 2026 Great California ShakeOut is scheduled for Thursday, October 15, 2026, at 10:15 a.m.. [

San Diego Unified School District (SDUSD) schools and staff participate annually in this statewide earthquake preparedness drill.

Please NO student pick-ups or drop-offs at this time, office will be closed for the drill. Everyone on campus will participate in the drill!

All parents must complete ALL ANNUAL FORMS for the 2026-27 school year through the Parent Portal. If you need assistance accessing your Parent Portal account, please contact Simi.

Our school is asking all families to complete the Local Control Funding Formula, or LCFF, form for the 2026-27 school year. THESE FORMS DIRECTLY IMPACT SCHOOL FUNDING.

The LCFF form is short, confidential, and helps ensure our school receives the state funding and resources for which we are eligible.

Families can complete the form in the PowerSchool Parent Portal using a parent/guardian account. Please note that the form is not available through student accounts.

To complete the form:

1. Log in to your PowerSchool Parent Portal account at https://powerschool.sandi.net

2. Select the LCFF Data Collection in the left hand navigation.

3. Complete and submit the short form for your student.

4. Need help? Reference this step-by-step guide in English, Spanish, Vietnamese

(Please Note: The LCFF form is not available in the PowerSchool mobile app, but can be completed by visiting https://powerschool.sandi.net from the internet browser on any device – phone, tablet, laptop or computer.)

If you need help accessing your Parent Portal account, locating your student’s Access ID and Password, or completing the form, please contact our school office.

Families who are unable to complete the form online may also complete the form one of the following ways:

• Online via the unique link to be emailed to you from survey@sandiegounified.org via SurveyMonkey

• In-person at your child’s school

The Jerabek Parking Lot is one direction at all times. This includes pick up from Primetime. Upon entry, please follow the arrows. If parking, please pull-out and proceed in direction of the arrows. There should not be any cross traffic at any time!

Jerabek Elementary will begin a Whole Site Modernization project this year. The project involves new building for TK, K and 1st grade and whole site improvements. SDUSD is finalizing project details and is creating fact sheets to distribute upon final approval. The proposed phasing for the 2026-2027 school year is as follows:

Spring Break 2027 - Set up staging area SW corner of parking lot

May 2027 - Install portable bungalows on west playground

May/June2027 - Begin relocation prep

Relocation from current bungalows will begin after the school year is over and will not interrupt our testing schedule. Many of our school events this year have earlier calendar dates to accommodate the project kick-off.

** Please be advised that SDUSD is processing volunteers for all SDUSD schools and there is a long delay. We apologize for this delay, but will work to ensure that your volunteer opportunities are not impacted!

EARLY PICK UP:

If you need to pick up your child early, please plan ahead. If you call the office ahead of time or send a note, we will have you child ready for pick up at the specified time. We understand that unforseen early pick-up is necessary. If you are able, call ahead to allow us 15 minutes to locate your child (especially at recess and lunch times). Please be mindful that your child will be waiting for your arrival. We do not want your child waiting for an extended period of time. Ensure that you have your ID for sign-out!

ATTENDANCE:

Attendance is a Jerabek focus this year! All California schools are funded based on ADA - Average Daily Attendance. Prompt and regular attendance is important at all times. When your child must be absent for any reason, please report the absence using this Google Form or call the office at (619) 605-1700 (Press 1) by 9:00 a.m. every day of non-attendance, giving the exact reason for the absence. We are happy to be partnering with Mission Federal Credit Union for their Mission2$ave program! The staff from the local Mission Fed in Scripps Ranch will be joining us every other Friday morning to host banking at Jerabek. Your child can open their free bank account and bring their deposits to school on banking days, and the credit union staff will deposit their money into their account. To encourage savings, each student’s account will receive 5% interest rate on balances up to $500 as well. Additionally, every new account will receive a piggy bank and your child can pick a small toy with every deposit they make.

The Mission Federal representative will be set up at the back gate this upcoming visit next Friday!

If your student requires a special diet or has specific dietary needs, please advise the school nurse as soon as possible at ialam@sandi.net so we can ensure their health and safety at school.

Our Health Office is staffed five days per week. Our Health Tech, Tianna Taylor, will be with us with us Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Our nurse, Ireem Alam, will be with us 2-days (W & F) a week. They are able to help out with routine and out of the ordinary health needs. Below you will find links to forms that you may need for your own children's health care needs. Jerabek is committed to developing the whole child. As we transition away from Leader in Me, we will create a CASEL-aligned SEL framework that intentionally teaches, models, and celebrates the character traits, leadership qualities, citizenship, and scholarly habits that empower every student to belong, contribute, and succeed.

Here is a sample of the PBIS posters that you will see around campus. This poster reminds students of arrival and dismissal expectations.

Please imagine “Monster Mash” playing in the background. Your co-presidents’ musical talents are best left to the imagination.

Jerabek has a lot brewing! Art Night on October 15, restaurant night on October 27, Trunk or Treat on October 29, and the Jog-a-thon on November 6. Consider this your reminder to check those calendars, we’d hate for you to get ghosted by your own schedule.

And a friendly reminder: keep the scares in the costumes. Slow down, keep crosswalks clear, and skip the illegal U-turns. Drive with the care you’d want for your own little koala.
