St Bernadette's Primary School
NEWSLETTER |WEEK 2 TERM 2 2026
Yesterday’s Kindy Mother’s Day Morning Liturgy was a beautiful celebration filled with warmth, laughter, and special moments. The children were so proud to welcome their mums and special loved ones into the classroom, sharing handmade gifts, story time and heartfelt smiles. Families enjoyed time together, chatting and soaking up the joy of their special women. A sincere thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the morning such a meaningful and memorable celebration for our Kindy community.
With Mother’s Day right around the corner, we are excited to invite our school community to our annual Bacon Burger Breakfast and Mother’s Day Mass next Friday, 8th May. This is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate and thank all the mums and special women in our lives. We look forward to a happy morning filled with appreciation, laughter, and our special community spirit! If you can make it, please fill in the form below to help us with catering.
If Tracy or I have looked a tad frazzled this week, we apologise! On Tuesday, our school was selected to complete the 2026 Non-government Schools Census Post-Enumeration (PE) Audit that verifies funding data by checking if schools have evidence for reported student numbers, particularly for disability funding (NCCD). I am pleased to report that this audit was successful and that our systems and processes have meant that all the evidence required was available. Many thanks to Tracy Cosgrove and our admin team for their diligence, attention to detail, and professionalism throughout what is always an onerous task, undertaken alongside their already busy workloads. The teaching staff are also sincerely thanked for their ongoing hard work in maintaining accurate and detailed student records. Well done team!
For our community, the audit highlights the importance of student attendance (above 90%), having the appropriate student records on attendance from parents when students are away from school and up-to-date, signed student adjustment plans. Thanks to all our parents who are vigilant in this space!
Our Running Club is in full swing as students prepare for the upcoming cross country and school carnivals. It’s fantastic to see so many children embracing the opportunity to build their fitness, stamina, and confidence in a fun and supportive environment. Going for a jog regularly is a great habit, and the enthusiasm on display has been wonderful. Thank you to Kate Martin and Ibu Kristy for facilitating this valuable opportunity. I joined in for a few laps this week and it’s safe to say I’m starting to feel my age!
We appreciate the community’s patience as we await the installation of pavers in our two new undercover areas. Unfortunately, delays have occurred due to the current building environment, with a limited number of contractors available. We understand this can be frustrating, but please be assured that we are working closely with providers to have the work completed as soon as possible. Thank you for your understanding and continued support.
This week our Years 2–6 staff have completed the next module of Powerful Problem Solving, continuing to strengthen their approaches to developing students’ critical thinking and mathematical reasoning skills. At the same time, our early years teachers have been engaging in professional learning focused on Bond Blocks, guided by the work of Paul Swan. It has been wonderful to see staff across all year levels building their knowledge and sharing strategies to further enrich student learning in mathematics.
Enjoy the weekend!
Best wishes
Geordie
Welcome to Bernie's!
A big welcome to Ava O in PPB. We hope you settle in well, make new friends and enjoy being part of our school community.
We would like to invite you all to our Mother’s Day Breakfast from 7.30am to 8.35am on Friday the 8th of May, followed by a Mother’s Day Welcome Mass over in the Church at 9am.
As we did last year, we will be hosting this event before school in the hope that we can see some of our working mothers, grandmothers and other significant women come for a cup of tea, coffee and a bite to eat. Breakfast of bacon and egg burgers will be provided in the undercover area.
We have organised our lovely Coffee Van for you to buy your favourite brew and there will be some activities on the oval (weather permitting).

In the Catholic tradition, our parish and school are closely connected.
The parish, led by Father Giovanni, provides spiritual leadership and is responsible for ensuring we nurture students’ faith alongside academic learning. The school supports the parish by helping children grow in Catholic values, preparing them for sacraments, and encouraging family participation in parish life.
It’s essentially a partnership — the parish is the faith community, and the school is one of its key ministries. For more information about our Parish, please click here:
