A Message from the Principal

Dear Highlander Families:

Student life at Hewes is in full swing a we start September. We held our first school dance today, and even in the heat, the students had a great time. Thank you to our ASB students and Mr.Jennings for putting together a great event. Next week, on Wednesday, September 11th, we will be holding an interest meeting for all students wanting to create a club this year. There is a link in this newsletter with more information, and additional dates to create a student-led club. Cross Country will be starting soon and all students interested in participating must turn in a permission slip by Friday, September 13th. Additional information and important dates for the season are also in this newsletter.

We are also looking for an interested student to serve on the School Site Council. The nomination form will be emailed to students and parents, and interested students are encouraged to self-nominate for this position. An election will be held in homeroom on Wednesday. Nominations will close on Tuesday at noon. Students must be logged into their mytusd account to be able to complete the Google Nomination Form.

We have a busy month ahead so please stay connected to Hewes by checking our website and following us on Instagram @heweshighlanders for the latest information and news.

FACULTY FRIDAY FACULTY FRIDAY

Congratulations to Mr.Foley for being recognized as this week's Faculty Friday. Mr.Foley is new to the Hewes staff but has quickly become a fixture on campus. He can be seen out front before and after school greeting students, welcoming them to campus, and sending them home each afternoon. He supports students with his positive attitude and has helped in so many ways in a short time. We appreciate your commitment to our students and your support for Hewes. THANK YOU!
