Kindergarten Balanced Beginnings

Dear Kindergarten Parents and Guardians,

We are thrilled to welcome your child to Soaring Hawk Elementary this fall as a new Kindergartener!

Please note that the Kindergarten year will begin a little differently. Kindergarten students will not begin full-day attendance until Monday, August 18th.

Important Dates:

• Teacher Meet & Greet Night – Monday, August 11th-Join us for an opportunity to meet the Kindergarten team and drop off school supplies. Most supplies are community, but headphones need to be labeled.

• Balanced Beginnings Transition Days – Wednesday, August 13th & Thursday, August 14th

• To support a smooth start to Kindergarten, each student will attend a half-day session with a small group of peers. This allows your child to ease into the classroom setting, get to know their teacher, and begin building friendships.

• Use this LINK to schedule your preferred time (AM or PM) on either Wednesday or Thursday. Please only sign up for one session per child.

• Getting to Know Your Kindergarten Child: Use this link to help us better understand your child and support him/her as a learner this year.

• Kindergarten Planning Day – Friday, August 15th-There will be no school for Kindergarten students on this day. Teachers will use the information gathered during Balanced Beginnings to design learning experiences that meet the needs of each child and build a strong foundation for the year ahead.

• Teacher Assignments & Ice Cream Social – Friday, August 15th-Teacher assignments will be available in the Parent Portal at 2:00 PM. Then, join us at 3:00 PM for our Kindergarten Ice Cream Social to meet your child’s teacher, ask questions, and celebrate the start of this exciting journey.

• Get Ready for Kindergarten- We encourage you to review this Kindergarten Prep Document to help you and your child prepare for the school year ahead. We look forward to partnering with you to make this a joyful and successful year for your child.

• 10:50-11:20/2:20-2:50 Recess (bring a water bottle and a healthy peanut-free snack)

• 11:20-11:30/2:50-3:00 Goodbye Circle and Dismissal Process
