Veterans Day Program

On November 11, 2026, we look forward to celebrating and honoring our Veterans. We know there are many Trailside families whose lives have been personally shaped by one of the branches of our Armed Forces. It is our desire to plan experiences that are meaningful for our students while simultaneously appreciative of the brave men and women that have served or are currently serving our country.

Trailside Elementary will be honoring our community’s Veterans with a convocation on Wednesday, November 11, 2026. The program will begin at 9:30 AM and will be held in the gym.

Planning on Attending the Program?

We welcome all members of our community, including those who are not Veterans, to attend our convocation. Please join us!

Preregistration is required. To register, go to: https://secure.safevisitor.io/safe/visitor/zionsvilleschools/veterans-day-program-2026

We ask all of our guests who have preregistered to enter the gym directly through door 10 (gym entrance). Guests will be seated in the bleachers. Guests may park in the north, east (main) or south lots.

This is a very well-attended event! You will need to sign up by Wednesday, November 4, 2026. We will be watching attendance closely and want to ensure that we are mindful of the maximum capacity in our gym.

Veteran Guest Reception

If you or a member of your family have served our country in this capacity, we would like to recognize you in a special way. We will hold a brief reception for our Veteran guests before the morning program, beginning at 8:45. You will be able to enter door 11 (north side of the building, near the bus lot) starting at 8:35. Veterans will be able to enjoy a treat with their Trailside student(s) before we begin heading into the gym for the morning program around 9:15. Please do not arrive before 8:30 AM.

So that we may plan accordingly, if you have a Veteran guest attending the reception, please complete the form linked HERE by Wednesday, November 4, 2026.

Veterans Day Photo Presentation - Photos due November 3rd

As we prepare for our Veterans Day program, we need your help. Each year we have a presentation of pictures that display our students and the Veterans in their family at the end of our celebration.

This year we are requesting you send your pictures to us digitally. Please follow the specific directions below to have your students and Veterans honored during our program on Wednesday, November 11th.

  1. Send ALL pictures to this email address: tseoffice@zcs.k12.in.us.
  2. In the email, please attach a picture of your veteran in a JPEG format. Also please include your Veteran’s name and branch of service and the name(s) of the Trailside students to whom the Veteran is connected. We are asking that these things come in the same email. If you have multiple Veterans to honor please send them in the same email.
  3. Even if you were included last year, you will need to resubmit for this year.

All pictures are due by end of day on November 3rd for inclusion in the program.

Thank you,

Trailside Veterans Day Team

Program Practice Resources

Each grade will be performing a patriotic song at this program. Students have been learning this song in music, but are encouraged to practice at home as well. This is an important event for our school and community as a whole. We have been discussing performance practice, but also respect as these songs are a way we show our appreciation to Veterans. The more they practice, the better prepared and more confident they will be! At home practice resources can be found on Canvas. Each grade has their own music page on Canvas. For example, kindergarten's is titled "Music K Brown."

Canvas instructions:

1. Go to the ZCS website: https://www.zcs.k12.in.us/
2. Under the tab "students" press "Canvas."
3. Log in with your student’s username and password. This can be found on Powerschool.
4. When you log in, you will be on the Canvas dashboard.
5. Click the music class.
6. Once you press music, look on the left-hand side of the screen and press "Modules."
7. There will be only one module labeled "Veterans Day." That is where you should find the video!

8. Have your child/children practice using the practice video and/or the instrumental track under the module.

They will be so excited to show you all that they've learned, and if you are unable to make it to the Veteran's Day program you can see a special performance at home. 😉
