Principal's Update
January 21, 2026
Hello Dayton Consolidated Families,
Happy New Year! Here we are, somehow heading towards the end of our first month of 2026. We have settled nicely back into our routines and are looking ahead to much learning and events sprinkled throughout the remainder of the school year.
The big news this month is that we introduced students to the four Dayton houses: Positivity, Safety, Responsibility, and Respect. Together, we will continue to work to strengthen our incredible school! There was a little bit of confusion (my apologies for my error, as I flipped some yellow and orange groups up when filling out the certificates). We told students that they are in the house represented by the shirt they got (red, green, orange, yellow). We look forward to many events we have planned and building on Dayton's unique opportunity as a PreK-5 school to foster long-standing and strong relationships.
Friday's are still Panther Pride days, and we always encourage students to wear their BLUE! We will let students know when we are asking them to wear their house shirts instead (likely the first Wednesday of the month).
Winter NWEA benchmark testing- grades 2-5, starts on Wednesday, 1/21. We appreciate your support in getting students to school each day. If any testing is missed, we do have to make it up at a different time.
Before I close, I want to take a moment to recognize our school bus drivers who travel thousands of miles each week with care, patience, and professionalism—often in challenging traffic and weather conditions. We are incredibly grateful to our Transportation Department for safely transporting our students and ask for your help in keeping them safe before, during, and after their bus ride. Parents are encouraged to read the school bus safety article below, which includes important reminders, and help reinforce these expectations at home
As always, please be sure to check out below for more upcoming events, tune in each week to our Thursday folder and follow us on Facebook.
If at any time I may be of help, please don't hesitate to reach out to me. Thank you for your continued support.
Sincerely,
Kim Sampietro, Principal
