Superintendent's Message
Dear Frankfort 157-C Families,
Thank you for your continued support and for helping us kick off a wonderful start to the 2025-2026 school year. The energy our students and staff have brought into our three schools is exciting—it is sure to be a great year for Frankfort School District 157-C.
This week, we enjoyed seeing many of you at Grand Prairie Curriculum Night, and we look forward to connecting again at Hickory Creek Curriculum Night on Wednesday, September 3, and Chelsea Intermediate School Curriculum Night on Thursday, September 4, both at 5:30 PM.
I am confident you will see that your child’s teachers are dedicated to making a lasting impact on both learning and future success. This commitment was strongly affirmed last spring when we interviewed students about their experiences in FSD 157-C. Without hesitation, students highlighted the genuine care and positive influence their teachers have had throughout their educational journey.
To begin this school year, we shared a video of those student reflections with our staff. It served as a powerful reminder of the critical role they play and reinvigorated our collective mission to ensure that this year is equally impactful. Our teachers’ dedication remains the foundation of the exceptional educational experience we strive to provide for every child.
Annual Plan
At the August 12, 2025 Board of Education meeting, the FSD 157-C administrative team presented the 2025-2026 Annual Plan—our set of yearly goals aligned to the district’s Strategic Plan. Strategic plans are more than guiding documents; they represent commitments to coherence, focus, and intentional progress. Since its adoption in 2022, our Strategic Plan has served as the foundation for all major decisions, initiatives, and resource allocations in the district.
By maintaining focus on this plan, we ensure that efforts across our schools are coordinated, purposeful, and transparent. This alignment provides clarity for staff, accountability for leadership, and a consistent sense of direction for students, families, and community members. It also strengthens our stewardship of district resources.
The 2025–2026 Annual Plan reflects this commitment. Each of the identified goals and outcomes connects directly to the five strategic directions:
-
Student Growth and Achievement
-
Social-Emotional Wellness
-
Instructional Excellence
-
Resource Stewardship
-
Community Partnerships
The Annual Plan is not a separate initiative—it is the operationalization of the Strategic Plan for this school year. As our partners in your child's education, we felt it imperative to ensure all of our school community knows of the important work happening across the district this year. Superintendent Community Report
I am excited to announce the first Superintendent Community Report on September 24, where I will share more about the Annual Plan and our work ahead. I will present at both 10 AM and 6 PM on September 24 to provide multiple times for those interested to attend. This is an optional event for anyone in our school community. To attend, please register for this presentation by Tuesday, September 17 to let us know which session we'll see you at.

We hope you and your family have an enjoyable Labor Day Weekend!
Sincerely,
Doug Wernet, Ed.D.
Frankfort School District 157-C Superintendent

Picture Day is September 8!
Picture day across all three schools will be held on Monday, September 8. VIP Photography is our vendor for all student photographs again this year.
VIP Photography has a convenient process for picture ordering. Students will first take their photos, and then families will receive an email on how to order photos after the pictures are taken. There is no need to fill out an order form ahead of picture day. Students will take two photos and parents will choose which one they prefer after reviewing the proof images that are emailed to them.
For students who are absent on September 8, the school portrait retake day is Monday, October 20.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact your child’s building secretary for assistance.

Virtual Backpack
Frankfort School District 157-C utilizes a more environmentally friendly and efficient method for sharing information. Flyers, posters, and media from district schools, non-profit organizations, intergovernmental agencies, and approved business partners are available on our "Virtual Backpack" webpage. This approach replaces the traditional practice of sending materials home via students' backpack mail, ensuring easier access and reduced paper waste.
