Message from Principal Parravano
I want to give you a quick heads up about something we’ve seen recently.
There are bogus emails that look like they are from a Grosse Pointe Public Schools employee. While the email domain may look familiar, these messages are not legitimate and actually phishing attempts.
Phishing emails are designed to trick recipients into clicking links, sharing private information, or even sending money. They often create a sense of urgency and may ask for passwords, personal details, gift cards, or financial assistance.
We are asking families to please take a few minutes to talk with your child about the importance of digital safety. Remind them:
Do not click on suspicious links.
Never share passwords or personal information through email.
Be cautious of any message requesting money or urgent action.
When in doubt, check directly with a trusted adult or contact the school.
These scams are becoming more commonplace. Digital awareness is an important life skill. A quick conversation at home can go a long way in helping our students stay safe online.
Here’s to a week of leading, learning, and growing!

Assistant Principal's Message....
PSAT 9 at SOUTH - April 15, 2026
On April 15, our 9th grade students will take the PSAT 9 as part of our continued commitment to academic excellence and student growth.
You may wonder why we administer the PSAT 9 in both the fall and the spring. The answer is simple: growth matters.
The PSAT 9 is more than a test. It is a valuable tool that helps us measure student progress, identify strengths, and pinpoint areas where additional support may be needed. By taking the assessment in both semesters, we are able to see real academic growth over time. This data allows our teachers to refine instruction, personalize learning, and ensure every student is on a strong path toward college and career readiness.
Benefits for Students:
• Establishes an early benchmark for college readiness
• Builds familiarity and confidence with College Board assessments
• Provides detailed feedback in reading, writing, and math
• Identifies areas for academic growth before the PSAT 10 and SAT
Benefits for Our School Community:
• Helps us evaluate and strengthen curriculum alignment
• Guides instructional decision-making
• Supports targeted interventions and enrichment opportunities
• Demonstrates measurable academic growth across grade levels
At Grosse Pointe South, increasing student achievement increases the value of our entire learning community. Strong academic outcomes enhance our school’s reputation, strengthen community confidence, and reinforce the excellence that defines our district. When our students grow, our school grows—and that collective success positively impacts our community.
We encourage students to approach the April 15 PSAT 9 with confidence, focus, and pride. This is an opportunity to demonstrate growth and continue building toward future success.
Thank you for your continued partnership in supporting our students and our school.
The Assistant Principals
Next week.....you will learn about the PSAT 10!
