Fri 19th June

Friday 19th June
A note from Mrs Fitzsimons
Good afternoon,
it was great to catch up with most of you this week at the Fair.
What talent we saw at the Talent Show on Thursday, photos will follow shortly.
We enjoyed our picnic today, albeit inside. A big thank you to the kitchen staff for organising it all. Feeding 200 children in one go is no mean feat.
Next week we celebrate with our P7s in their Leavers' Assembly on Thursday. Always an emotional one.
Remember recycled school uniform may be left into school to be collected by BUZ on Tues 30th June.
Have a lovely weekend and we look forward to our last full week together,
Mrs F
LOST PROPERTY
We have a child's, age 3-4 , pink zip fleece left behind from the fair. Joy has it in her office.
Spa's first Netball Tournament
We had 7 teams at Assumption Grammar School on Monday this week: Spa Pink, Spa Blue, St Francis Drumaroad, Holy Family Teconnaght, Dromara, Annahilt, and Glasswater.
One of our Spa teams (Spa Blue) made it through to the semi final, only to be beaten by a very strong Holy Family 5 goals to 3. Holy Family and Dromara had another tight match in the final where Dromara won 4 goals to 3. Spa Pink had 4 matches and were in a very strong group. They all played brilliantly together against some very strong teams. We had the privilege of having a NI international netballer, Fionnuala Toner, who came along to speak to the girls about her netball career and also to present the medals.
A special thank you to Clar Rose for organising and coordinating it all and inviting Fionnuala along (and the many other jobs she did to make our first tournament a great success).
Everyone had a great day!
A very successful night at the Fair
We had a brilliant night on Tuesday at our Annual Fair. The crowds came out, the weather was dry and the atmosphere was great. We have so many people to thank for making it all possible but mainly to all our families who contributed stuff to Bran Tub etc and turned up and spent money. Thanks to the parents who volunteered on stalls etc and helped set-up and tidy-up afterwards.
Thanks to Jack Griffiths, Matthew Carlisle and Carlisle's for bringing along the Steam Engine, it was amazing. Thanks to Jenny and Andrew Davis for providing for the barbecue and also Morrison's Vivo for providing for the barbecue. Thanks to Peter and Aaron Lenzi for being DJs. Thanks to my amazing staff who worked tirelessly to make it all a success. Thanks to Alfie Booth, P7, who captured some drone footage for us. I haven't been able to attach it to this letter so will add it separately on Seesaw. Apologies if I have missed anyone. As a school we are feeling very thankful. Joy is still counting money so we will let you know a total soon. Our Teddy and Sweets in the Jar will be awarded on Wednesday.
Celebration Assembly
We spent Wednesday morning hearing about all the wonderful things our pupils have achieved outside of school. It took us quite a while because there was so much to celebrate.
P5 receive their swimming badges
Well done Nathan
Nathan represented Spa at Stormont this week and collected his Foundation certificate in drumming from The Ulster Scots Agency!
Our Parent Information sessions for the year ahead will be held on Fri 28th August. The pupils go home at 12:00 that day. The session will last 30 mins and will be repeated at 1:00 and 1:30. The purpose of these sessions is for you to know what to expect in the incoming year and how we can work together in partnership to support your child. Please plan to attend.
