Almost there!! Don’t forget our Honors Assembly on Monday at 2 PM in the High School gym. This is a quick honoring of all kids in 9-11 who are achieving at a high level in the various content areas. Parents are welcome to attend, just know that we call students names and then read all areas they are getting honored in, and present them with a folder with all of their certificates. Once again, Mrs. Sinclair and Mrs Bever work feverishly to get these made in the last days. BIG Shout Out to these ladies who do so much work that sometimes goes unnoticed. Exams will be next week with half days on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Exams count 20% of students’ final grades, so it is important that we finish strong.

Congratulations to our Middle School Theatre Group, who performed The Little Mermaid Junior on Wednesday and have two more performances on Saturday, May 31, at 1 PM and 4 PM in the high school auditorium. The play is directed by our own DKHS junior, Maggie Martin, and has several student helpers.

We have 3 athletes competing this weekend at Kent City in the MHSAA Track & Field State Finals. Kylie Main, Landon Madden, and Nick Muday will be representing DK and are looking for personal best performances. Grady Matteson qualified for the Golf State Finals with his 2nd place finish at Regionals this week in a field of over 100 golfers. Grady plays at The Meadows at GVSU with a two-day event on June 6-7. Baseball and softball have district play on Saturday.

This week, our Mental Health Ambassadors put the final touches on their Wellness Room. Claire Barker and Cora Morris are shown painting some high-top desks with chalkboard paint for kids who visit the room. Olivia Post, Lindie Wiessner, and Alyce Donley are shown adding some details and posting the Wellness Room expectations.

Shout Out to Olivia, Cora, and Claire, who have been great leaders and design experts in creating this space for kids.

Also BIG shout-out to DK alum Class of 2011 Charlie VanHoose, who was the crane operator for the water tower placement. I tried to get a picture of him in the cab, but he was busy Doing A Job! Nice shot, Charlie -you nailed it!
