We're Excited to See you!

Dear South Park Parents and Guardians,

South Park’s Curriculum Night is scheduled for Tuesday, August 27th. This evening is for parents only, so please plan to attend without your child.

Curriculum Night is an opportunity for you to see our beautiful school and classrooms, meet your child’s teacher, and learn about our instructional program. It is important to note that all of our teachers will be presenting the same information twice on Curriculum Night. Using the schedule below, families with multiple children should be able to attend all relevant presentations without experiencing many conflicts.

Below is the schedule for Curriculum Night, Tuesday 8/27 Below is the schedule for Curriculum Night, Tuesday 8/27

Our classroom teachers will all share their individual presentations with their families after Curriculum Night. Student services staff members will be in their classrooms and offices to say hello during the time indicated in the schedule above. The purpose of Curriculum Night is to share information about how we meet the needs of all students in the classroom. As such, we respectfully ask that you refrain from asking questions about your child’s individual needs. If you need to speak with your child’s teacher about any issues specific to your child, please make an appointment to do so. We are always happy to meet with parents.

We look forward to seeing you at our annual Curriculum Night on Tuesday, August 27th!

Sincerely,

Marcie Faust, Principal

Stephanie Monaco, Assistant Principal

Understanding the Curriculum Night Format at South Park

The South Park Curriculum Night was designed so that families can create a custom schedule that allows them to attend any sessions of interest without experiencing conflicts. All presentations will be repeated at least once, containing the exact same information. Feel free to attend the sessions in any order you choose using the schedule above.

FAQs

What is the Math Placement for 4th and 5th Grades session and is it open to anyone?

This session will explain the criteria used for placement in advanced math to help families understand our ongoing placement process which takes place each spring. By 5th grade, we place students into two math tracks: an advanced math class that teaches students 6th-grade math and some 7th grade standards while the regular 5th-grade math teaches grade-level standards. The students in advanced 5th-grade math leave class for math every day to work with Mrs. Stein. In 4th grade, we have enrichment opportunities with Mrs. Stein for students who show mastery of skills based on the pre-test for each math unit. This session is open to anyone who wants to understand our math placement process in District 109. Here is a recording of a session we presented several years ago for those who are unable to attend in person tonight. The content remains the same.

What session will the "Student Services/Specialists" be hosting?

Though these staff members are available from 5:00-5:50, they will not be presenting at Curriculum Night. If your child already sees one of these specialists, you are welcome to stop by their classroom or office to say hello. If you want to ask specific questions about your child, it's best to follow up with an email or phone call. You can use our directory to find their classroom/office by clicking here.
