Greetings from the Nest! It may be hard to believe, but we are nearing the end of the first semester. Parents, please check ParentVUE for the most up-to-date grades and have a conversation with your child about their academic progress. These final weeks of the second marking period are crucial for setting a strong foundation for the rest of the school year. This week, we celebrated excellence in athletics! At halftime of the girls’ basketball game, we recognized our state championship athletes from last year. Congratulations to Trent Daniels and Caroline Tribbet for their outstanding achievements in track & field, and to the Gainesville baseball team for their incredible 2025 season. We’re proud of your hard work and dedication!

Teacher Recommendations for 2026-2027

Teachers and students in grades 9-11 will be meeting for one-on-one conversations regarding teacher recommendations for courses in the 2026-2027 school year. Once entered, these recommendations can be seen in Student VUE and Parent VUE under the Course Request tab. The window for teacher recommendations to be entered closes on January 23. Students can then enter their preferred courses in StudentVUE from January 27 to 30. This is not a required step as every GHS student will meet with their school counselor for a one-on-on meeting starting in February. More information on academic advising will be coming in the upcoming weeks.

SAT Preparation Tips

There are great resources available for free for PWCS students to prepare for their SAT, an important step in the college admissions process. Juniors will be taking the SAT for free on April 15 during school hours. One helpful resource we recommend our students try is the Question of the Day, where a free SAT question is sent to students. They can track their progress and success each time they participate.

Another amazing and effective resource is the SAT preparation program through Khan Academy. Students have free access to Khan Academy through their PWCS Portal sign in. Learn more about college admissions testing on the PWCS website.
