Good Morning Memorial Families,

Happy, happy SPRING! The days are brighter and longer, and hopefully we see more warmth in the days ahead like we did on Saturday. It is so crazy to me that we are already into the final trimester of school. Tomorrow you will be able to access your child's trimester 2 report card through the Powerschool portal. It is important at the elementary level to remember that we are grading children against the standards that we follow here in Massachusetts. The standards are end of the year targets, and so a grade of a "2" is not that your child is necessarily struggling, but more a reflection of where they are on their journey towards mastery of the standard. The hope is that by the end of the school year, he or she is able to meet the grade level expectations and receive a "3". An area that is always important to focus on when discussing your child's report card is the grades that reflect your child's habits of mind. Is your child exhibiting good judgement? Are they doing what is expected in different situations throughout the day? Are they persevering? Are they putting their best effort into their schoolwork? Learning to be a learner is a big part of elementary school and sets students up for success as they grow and move through middle and high school and eventually college and life! If, after looking at your child's report card, you have any questions, please reach out directly to your child's teacher.

I want to share a few reminders to families about drop off in the mornings and pick up in the afternoons. Even if you do not typically drop off or pick up, you should be aware of our routines just in case you find yourself needing to use the line.

1. Please pull your car all the way up at drop off- do not stop directly in front of the front doors.

2. Please remain in your car during both drop off and pick up.

3. Please display a sign with your child's first and last name.

4. Please be sure to inform anyone new picking your child up of our traffic route. ALL traffic must enter from the 140 entrance. During school hours, the Fiske Ave entrance is only for our busses.

5. If you arrive after 9:00am, you need to walk your child to the front door to be buzzed in. Your child's class begins instruction at 9:00am, so please try to get here before then.

Have a wonderful week ahead!

Warmly,

Wendy and Lauren
