Superintendent for the Day

On Thursday, May 28, 2026, a 4th-grade student, Osay, served as “Superintendent for the Day”! During this special experience, Osay had the opportunity to visit classrooms and district buildings, meet with staff members, and gain insight into the many responsibilities of a superintendent. We would also like to extend our sincere thank you to Dr. Maroun for providing this meaningful opportunity and for being such a wonderful mentor to our student.

🏃‍♀️ Girls Running Club

This morning, our amazing Girls Running Club participated in the Girls on the Run 5K in Somerville! More than just a running program, this 4th-grade after-school club is dedicated to boosting self-esteem and building strong, confident girls.

Our runners have been working incredibly hard, meeting twice a week since mid-April to train, build endurance, and lift each other up. A huge thank you to our wonderful staff advisors, Mrs. Collymore and Mrs. Maldonado-Gorsak, for their dedication, guidance, and support in helping our girls cross the finish line with confidence!

On a recent rainy day, the girls channeled their energy into creating beautiful, inspiring posters filled with words of encouragement—like "Be Confident!" and "Try Your Best"—which they have proudly hung up around the school to spread positivity to all of our Roosevelt Colts! ✨

🎒 Attendance Matters 🎒 Attendance Matters

It's The Final Countdown

As we move into the final month of the school year, it can be tempting to let routines slide—but this is actually the most critical time for consistent attendance! Staying on track now ensures our students are fully prepared for end-of-year milestones and their transition to the next grade.

  • Routine & Reliability: Consistent attendance helps students stay connected to their peers and keeps their learning momentum high. Every lesson builds on the last, and being here in person makes all the difference.

  • Every Minute Counts:

    • 8:25 AM: Doors open for breakfast.
    • 8:35 AM: Regular arrival begins.

    • 8:45 AM: School starts promptly.

🏫 Aiming for an 8:35 AM arrival gives your child the "soft landing" they need to organize their materials and start the day with a smile.

Let’s keep our attendance "Excellent" all the way to the finish line! Thank you for partnering with us to make every school day count for our Roosevelt Colts. 🐴

🛑 Safety First: Crucial New E-Bike Rules for Parents and Students 🛑

With more students than ever using electric bicycles to commute to school, safety on our roads and around school zones has become a top priority. E-bikes are heavier and faster than traditional bicycles, making safe riding habits and strict adherence to traffic laws absolutely critical.

To reduce crashes, prevent serious injuries, and protect all roadway users, New Jersey has put a New State Safety Law into effect. Law enforcement's goal is safety and education —but we need parents and students to understand the rules of the road immediately to ensure everyone gets home safely.
