Happy Friday Eaton Olympians!

We hope all families have enjoyed a successful (albeit, rainy) start to the school year. Our kickoff event is scheduled for August 6, 2024, 5:00-7:00pm. The PTA will host a general assembly meeting at 5:00pm followed by Curriculum Night in the classrooms. At 6:00pm, we invite families to a Wait til 8th discussion facilitated by local middle school administrators which advocates for delaying smartphone access.

Additional School Information to Review

AM Car Drop Off:

We understand that our drop off line is long. However, we encourage all drivers to respect and follow basic traffic laws at the Gordon Road light. The safety of our students and families is important to us!

  • When the light is RED and cross traffic has a green light and cars are actively crossing into campus, please be patient and wait. Right turn on red ONLY if there is no in-coming traffic.
  • Eaton campus is one-lane only on entry -- two lanes upon exit. Doubling or tripling up upon entry creates an unsafe traffic pattern for all stakeholders.
  • When turning left to campus from Gordan Road or crossing Gordan Road from Netherlands Drive, please be safe and avoid blocking Gordan Road.

To expedite drop-off, please ensure students and parents/guardians/caregivers are ready when cars approach the school building. This may look like the following:
  • student bookbags & other materials are in students hands or on backs before reaching the drop off zone
  • drivers pulling safely away after the car doors are closed

Bus Transportation: Our buses are looking for riders -- if you are eligible for bus transportation, please notify the school so we can get a bus pass for your student. More students riding our school buses will reduce the number of cars in the line!

School Website Parent Resources Page: This link contains information related to grade level supply lists, transportation, and afterschool care information.

School Safety:

  • Car Tags: Please keep your car tags in the dashboard until you have picked up your student. Staff are looking for and confirming matches between student and tags.
  • Walker Tags: Please ensure you have these out and visible when you approach the school.
  • Afternoon transportation changes must be conveyed in writing to the teachers.
  • Parents: Please confirm 'usual' method of afternoon pick up - select one (1) method so that the school is aware of how the students will usually go home. If daily changes are needed, parents are required to confirm that in writing every time there is a change.
  • The safety of students, staff, and families is a top priority at Eaton. All visitors on school grounds must report to the front office to sign in during school hours. Photo Identification is required to sign in to the school and/or check out a stduent.

There is a lot of information to learn and absorb as we dive into our school year. It is our goal to send a weekly parent and family newsletter so that you stay informed. Your goal is to read the newsletter so that you are informed. These newsletters will be posted on our webpage as well for easy access as well.

If you need anything or have additional questions, please email either the principal or the assistant principal, respectively: rosemarie.wheeler@nhcs.net and/or karen.mccarty@nhcs.net

We look forward to serving you this year!

  • Parents/guardians need to remain in their cars during arrival. Staff will meet, greet, and supervise your students during the transition from car to school building. However, when the 7:35am warning bell rings, staff will begin the transition to the school.
  • To assist in a safe and speedy arrival, students should have backpacks on and ready to exit cars when you near the zone of transition.
  • Breakfast is served 7:20am - 7:40am / keep this in mind when you plan for arrival

Late Arrival (Tardy)

Departure (Car Pick Up) -- We encourage all drivers to maintain composure and patience in our car line!

  • All parents/guardians will use the car pick up line to pick up their students. Exceptions: Families who walk from their homes to pick up their students and those approved by administration. Walkers have their own tags for pick up.
  • Car Tags" This sign should be displayed at all times until after you have pick up your student.
  • Only vehicles with the signs will be allowed to pick up your child. If you give your sign to another person, you are giving that person permission to pick up your child. Without a sign, you will need to park and go to the front office and provide photo identification before picking up a student.
  • Signs were provided by classroom teachers at either open house or during the first three days of school. If you need a replacement sign, please email Dina.Dillon@nhcs.net.
  • Students will only be loaded from the passenger side of the car.
  • We encourage all families to teach students the responsibility of buckling their own safety seats. If your student is still learning this skill, please pull up just past the mailbox and/or park in a spot to assist your child.

Early Pick-Up (Early Check-Out) -- Deadline is 1:45pm

  • If you need to pick up your student (s) early, you must do so before 1:45pm. Photo identification is required every time you check out students.

We appreciate everyone's role in helping to ensure and maintain a

safe arrival and departure for all stakeholders!

Volunteer Information Volunteer Information

zoom_out_map

All volunteers, both Levels 1 and 2, must complete volunteer training each school year.

We love our volunteers! Whether you want to assist in a classroom, lead a small group, attend a field trip, or simply help in an area around the school, we need you to complete the application process to ensure you are either a Level 1 or Level 2 volunteer!

Our Level I volunteers work under the continual supervision of school staff. If you plan on visiting the classroom, you need to be a Level I Volunteer:

  1. Read all of the information in this presentation, Volunteer Orientation, and the NHCS Volunteer Handbook (we will get this to you as soon as it becomes available).
  2. Complete the Volunteer Orientation Assessment with a score of 80% or higher.

After completing Level I certification and if you are willing to complete Level II requirements, please complete a Background Check Application. Background checks cost $22.50 and are valid for three (3) years. Our Level 2 Volunteers may work alone with students and may not always be with a staff member. FIELD TRIPS -- if you plan to attend any field trip, you must be a Level 2 volunteer.

General Guidelines after receiving district clearance to serve as a volunteer:

  • Please have your photo ID ready when coming to campus to either sign in.
  • When volunteering, please respect the instructional day and stay within your volunteer area.

As soon as we verify level I or 2 status at the district level, staff will reach out to schedule our volunteers!
