Good News
Led by senior Andrea Lagascar, the National Honor Society submitted and was awarded a grant ($1000) to offer women's health presentations to our local middle schools. This is a fantastic project and I'm so proud of our Spirits for taking initiative and serving our community.
Speaking of service, all families should have received an updated list of completed service hours. We ask each family to complete 15 hours each year and believe it's a great way to build community and get to know your fellow parents. We have some great opportunities coming up:
This Friday & Saturday, our Spirits are putting on the Spring Musical, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. I hope you'll come out to support Notre Dame Arts. I'm sure we could use help with hospitality, too!
This Saturday, we're hosting our first Pickleball Tournament at Chamisal at 2:00 pm. If you're game, please join us on the courts. We could also utilize your help with hospitality.
On Good Friday, we're hosting a Clam Chowder dinner. We'd like to bring back these Friday night community meals during Lent so this dinner holds promise. We can use help cooking, serving, setting up, and cleaning up.
These activites highlight the great things happening at Notre Dame and the opportunities to reach out to serve like our National Honor Society.
Go Spirits!

Alumnae News
Dear Notre Dame Families,
We will be having a "Clam Chowder Night" on Friday, April 18th, and hoping you will help us spread the word! We're planning to offer a meat free meal on Good Friday and gather together as a community. We'd specifically like help from our parents and students with the dessert sale (although we would welcome help serving, too).
We will be selling desserts for $1.00 each and need your help in donating sweet items. Desserts can be brought to school on Thursday by 3:00. The Sign Up Genius link.
Thank you in advance for helping and hope you are able to make it!
Blessings,
Connie

Catholic School Matters podcast
TheCatholic School Matters podcast is back and is now focused on conversations with authors from the upcoming book A Brighter Future for Catholic Schools. This week's podcast is a conversation about Cura Personalis & SEL in Catholic schools with Dr. Melodie Wyttenbach of the Roche Center at Boston College & Dr. Lauren Casella of Loyola Marymount.
Previous episodes this season:
- The fifth podcast is a conversation with Dr. Jeannie Ray-Timoney who recounts her experience of leadership in the church and her discussions with others
- The fourth podcast is a conversation with high school theology teacher David Palmieri who is leading a grassroots movement centered around inclusion of LGBT+ students and staff members in our Catholic schools. He discusses the theological framework of inclusion.
- The third podcast is a conversation when I speak with Dr. Timothy Cook of Creighton University about Catholic identity. Here is a link to a blog about the podcast. Dr. Cook talks about a 3-part framework--belonging, becoming, and believing. You won't believe if you don't feel a part of the group!
- The second podcast features a conversation with Dr. Michael Boyle of the Hermann Center at Saint Louis University. He discusses his work opening up Catholic schools to all learners. Here is a blog about the podcast conversation.
- The first podcast is a conversation with Dr. Antonio Felix from LMU who discusses his framework for engaging Hispanic families in Catholic schools. I wrote a longer blog summarizing the podcast here.
