Schedule for the Week of March 2nd
Light Installation Delayed
We want to update our community that the installation of stadium lights at Grant High School has been delayed and is now expected to occur later this year rather than the originally planned winter/spring timeline. We understand this is disappointing for our student‑athletes and families, and we share that frustration, especially knowing how much evening practices and home games mean to our community. Local news reports note that permitting, contractor availability, and other scheduling challenges have contributed to the delay, and while the project continues to move forward, there isn’t a firm date yet for completion — we will share more information in the coming weeks as we learn more.

SEARCH AND RESCUE
Grant High School student Liam Forum came prepared when he and another search and rescue member joined the effort to help a stranded hiker. As members of the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue team, the two teens focused first on helping the hikers recover—providing support and assessing their condition—before safely leading them down the trail. Their training and readiness played a key role in the rescue, demonstrating the level of responsibility and skill required of volunteers on the Search and Rescue team. The story was reported by KGW. See the link below
DANCE TEAM VISITS WHITMMAN
On Friday the 13th, the Grant Dance Collective (GDC) / Performance Dance class visited Whitman Elementary to perform student-created dances and eat lunch with the 200 Whitman Wildcats, which was followed by a recess dance party with the entire school and Whiskers. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Grant High School Constitution Team Wins State Championship, Advances to National
Competition in Washington, D.C.
Portland, OR — The 2025-2026 Grant High School Constitution Team has claimed the State
Championship title, winning the Oregon competition on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at the
Multnomah County Circuit Courthouse. The victory secures their place at the prestigious
national “We the People: The Citizen & the Constitution” competition in Washington, D.C., April
17–19, 2026.
Grant High School’s 36-member Constitution Team, made up entirely of seniors, will join 47
other state champion teams from across the country to compete on the national stage in one of
the most rigorous academic competitions in the nation.
The “We the People” program, administered by the Center for Civic Education, is the most
extensive civics-based education program in the United States. Developed to teach young
people about the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and the democratic principles they embody, the
program challenges students to demonstrate deep constitutional knowledge through simulated
congressional hearings. More information about the program is available at www.civiced.org.
Grant’s victory reflects months of intensive preparation, collaboration, and scholarly dedication.
The team’s success has inspired pride throughout the Grant community. While attending this
year’s State Competition, Grant High School Principal James McGee expressed his enthusiasm
for the team’s achievement, stating, “This is MY Superbowl.”
Community Support Needed to Send Team to Nationals
To compete in Washington, D.C., the team must raise $112,500 to cover travel, lodging, and
competition expenses for all 36 students and their coaches.
Grant High School’s Constitution Team is asking for community support to help make this
once-in-a-lifetime opportunity possible. Donations of any amount are greatly appreciated and
are tax-deductible.
To contribute, please visit:

For more information about this year’s outstanding Constitution Team or to arrange an interview
with participating students, please contact faculty advisor Angela DiPasquale at
adipasquale@pps.net.
Help support the next generation of informed, engaged citizens as they represent Portland
—and the state of Oregon— on the national stage.
