Panorama Family Survey...Please Take the Survey! Panorama Family Survey...Please Take the Survey!

Dear South Burlington School District Families,

Thank you for being our partners in supporting student wellness and social-emotional skills. To better understand the school experiences and needs of your family, we are asking you to complete the following survey between now and October 9th, 2026. It will take 15-20 minutes to complete online.

The information collected from the survey will be used to better understand the needs and experiences of students, staff and families within our district. This data will help the district:

  • Identify strengths and areas for improvement across the schools, and collectively as a District.

  • Develop targeted strategies to support the social-emotional needs of students, staff and families.

  • Inform planning at both the district and individual school levels.

  • Support the professional development of staff in order to best support students, families and staff.

This is internal data that will be reviewed with staff and will guide our efforts to create a more supportive and inclusive school environment for all students, staff and families.

Take the Survey → Click Here

If you have students in more than one SBSD school: Please complete one survey per school to help us understand the unique experiences in each building

The survey is anonymous. Your individual responses are anonymous, and cannot be linked back to you.

Questions? Please reach out to Kat Yun, Director of Equity, Belonging and Family Engagement, (kyun@sbschools.net) or the building Principal at your student’s school.

Movement to Music Artist In Residency Success! Movement to Music Artist In Residency Success!

THANK YOU to our Fine Arts Committee for organizing a fantastic "We Belong" movement to music residency with Rose Bedard! Our Fine Arts Committee is made up of the following staff members: Nancy Rogers, Cindy Tan, Lisa Post, Jenny Goodrich, Riggs, Alex Bahrenburg, Amanda McCarthy and Alyssa Chandler. Thank you to our PTO for providing funding for this event. We were also incredibly fortunate to receive a generous donation to our Fine Arts Fund from a former Chamberlin family in memory of their mother and grandmother, Pat Burgmeier, who worked at Chamberlin as a paraprofessional many years ago. We are very grateful for their support of the arts and our students. We hope you enjoyed the performance at the high school!

Attendance Matters! Attendance Matters!

User uploaded image

Mrs. McCarthy's and Mrs. Roger's classes got shout outs on the announcements for having the best attendance to start the year! For August and September, they had attendance rates that were above 98%! We will be giving monthly shout outs for classes with great attendance, so please make every effort to get your child to school when they are not sick. We know that getting to school on time and whenever possible makes a difference in their learning profile...we appreciate your partnership and we are here to support you with attendance pieces if you need help!

What I Need Intervention Block What I Need Intervention Block

As part of our multi-tiered system of support (MTSS), we have an intervention block in our day. Each grade level has different 30 minute blocks during the day, allowing our reading specialist (Mrs. Payson), math specialist (Mrs. Jan Murphy) and 1 or 2 special educators to support classroom teachers during an intervention time. Teaching teams in grades K-5 will spend time next week during our early release day, analyzing recent assessments and forming groups based on the reading and math skills that students need to work on next in their learning journey. This time allows students to get the supports that they need outside of the universal math and reading blocks. Every six weeks, the team comes together, using student data, to reconfigure groups based on needs. At conferences in October your child's teacher will be discussing with you what your child is doing during our first WIN block.

GCS Earns Gold! GCS Earns Gold!

GCS received a gold ribbon at the annual VT PBIS Forum in Killington last week for reaching the highest level of implementation for our PBIS efforts! Our SEL coaches, Megan Goyet and Lisa Rundle, are also our PBIS Coordinators who work hard to make sure we are developing and following a school action plan to provide positive supports for students and staff. Mrs. Goyet attended the forum last week and received our gold ribbon, which we will add to our PBIS banner in the lobby!

An online customer who lives close to the student can choose to have their order shipped to the student for $1.95, but the student must be registered and acknowledge that they want to deliver orders. Otherwise, shipping is $4.95 per order.

There is also a prize program for students who sell at least one item. Feel free to share the information and your child's seller code with friends and family, even those who live out of state!
