Notes from the Principal -

Good afternoon, CPMS Families! I hope you and your family are enjoying this long weekend! Please don't forget the reason for Memorial Day - as a time of remembrance for those who paid the ultimate price for our freedom. Thank you to all of our families who have a family member who paid that price.

Last weekend, our chess team competed in the National Chess Tournament in Round Rock! We had a few top 10 finishers! I am so proud of this group! Thank you to all of you parents who have supported the Raging Rooks Chess Team this year!

Last week was busy with all the final fine arts events and our first ever AAPI Night! The choir and orchestra finished the year with amazing concerts! And, on Friday, our high school credit Theatre Arts students put on their last play of the year! Great job to all our performers and the directors of each of those programs! AAPI Night had so many amazing performances by groups from outside the school and our very own students and family members! The food was delicious! I can't wait to see how this event grows next year!

Academics will remain at the forefront this week! We have science and social studies benchmark testing. Please encourage your child to do their best!

Thank you to everyone for helping us as we have made adjustments here at the end of the year. This week the Yondr Pouches will be taken up. The 6th an 7th graders will turn theirs in on Tuesday. On Wednesday, the 8th graders will turn theirs in. Please ensure your child brings their pouch to turn in! I know there are some students that need their cell phone to reach out to parents at the end of the day. Students may still bring their phones, but they need to be put away at all times during the school day. If phones are found out and being used, they will be taken up and parents will need to pick them up from the front office. Please have this conversation with your child.

Most students followed the no backpack policy last week. That will continue this week. Remember the only things allowed are a small purse for personal items, a lunch box and any required supplies either carried by hand or in a disposable grocery bag. There should be no small bookbags being brought at this point.

AFTER SCHOOL: Boys and Girls Club has completed their year with us and there is no Learning Lab. Students need to be picked up by 4:00 pm. There are no after school activities going on at this point. Please work with your child and remind them of the plan for these last 3 days. We need everyone to be safely off campus in a timely manner.

There are still a large number of students who are currently failing one or more classes and on the list for potential summer school. Please check HAC and talk with your child about their grades. If the grades are not where you all would like them to be, please reach out to the teacher.

Please remember that the priority is on having a safe and orderly campus. Students are expected to be in dress code and following the KISD Student of Code. Please remind your child to stay in class, doing as the teacher asks.

Again, I have included the flyer for our 8th Grade Celebration. Please note that we are limiting the number of guests to 3 per family. We are asking that balloons and gift bags not be brought into the gymnasium. Again, it is about keeping everyone safe!

Let's finish this year strong!

We are Better Together!
