Salk Education Outreach
The SciChats@Salk program is a great way to connect your students with San Diego scientists during periods of distance learning and beyond.
SciChats@Salk is a video-conference-based science outreach program that pairs students in a classroom (or alternative learning setting) with a volunteer scientist for an interactive conversation about what it’s like to be a scientist. SciChats gives students a clearer picture of how science progresses, encourages them to imagine a future for themselves as scientists, and illustrates the contributions that science makes to our society. Rather than strictly teaching content, SciChats embraces students’ curiosity by letting their questions dictate the discussion, and emphasizes both the process of science and the people behind it.
For more information about the SciChats program and a link to submit a SciChat Educator Request, please visit our website here.
Check out our Teacher Resource page on our website here for virtual lab tours, Salk Scientist Podcasts, links to resources from our community partners and much more! We will be adding to site regularly so check often for updates.
