What an amazing day for Unity Day!
.
Thank you to all of the adults who joined us on our Unity Day hike today!
Preschool
Preschool has been forming relationships, exploring the woods, learning about apples and making applesauce. It was a great week.
Violins needed at GVS!
We've had a tremendous amount of students signed up to learn violin and are in need of violins to loan out for the year.
Do you or someone you know have a violin we could use here at the school?
We are also looking for any community members that know how to play violin or cello to play with us on Monday mornings 8:00 - 8:30.
Email Mr. Hoefs at choefs@gvshawks.org if you can help, loan an instrument, or have any questions.

A message from our School Nurse, Mrs. Carey:
Phew! Strep Throat is running rampant at GVS. Some kids are home with days of fever spikes, some have stomach pain and or vomiting. Some have a sore throat, some have fevers and some do not. Some rapid tests are positive and some are not. If they have a classmate, family member or close friend that has tested positive, please get them tested. Thank you!
Have a great weekend! Fingers crossed you all stay healthy!
A message from our School Counselor, Mrs. Widmann:

Boosting Math at Home: Quick tips for busy families
Want to make math homework a whole lot easier this year? Mastering basic math facts is the secret key.
As school gets into full swing, students are tackling bigger challenges like multi-step problems, fractions, and decimals. When kids have to stop and count on their fingers for $7 \times 8$, they lose their momentum on the real problem. Automatic math facts clear the runway so their brains can focus on the big ideas.
Quick At-Home Tips:
Keep it short: 5 to 10 minutes a day is plenty. Short, daily repetition beats a long weekend cram session every time.
Mix it up: Keep it fresh by rotating—flashcards one week, a family card game the next, or an educational app on the weekend.
Fit your family routine: Busy afternoons? Squeeze in practice during the morning commute, at the breakfast table, or while waiting in the school pickup line.

School Funding and Property Taxes
10-County Tour
This fall, NHSFFP is taking our School Funding + Property Taxes Tour to all 10 New Hampshire counties. We’ve revamped our presentation, and over the next three months we’ll be bringing it directly to communities across the state.
Along with a brand-new slide deck covering New Hampshire’s school funding system, property taxes, recent legislation, and potential solutions, we’re introducing new interactive activities, debuting our first-ever policy platform, collecting stories and perspectives from attendees, and creating more opportunities for communities to tell us what they think. In other words: these events are designed to be as much about listening as they are about presenting.
At every stop, you’ll have opportunities to learn how state school funding decisions affect your community and property taxes, explore local and statewide data, ask questions, participate in interactive exercises, and share your own experiences and ideas. What we learn along the way will help inform our work heading into the 2027 legislative session and state budget process.
