Meet Mrs. Hounshell

This is Mrs. Hounshell's 20th year in education...all at Hamilton Middle School! She has a BME from Loyola University (New Orleans) and a MM from LSU. She is looking forward to another great year at Hamilton!

Meet Mr. Sellers

This is Mr. Sellers 2nd year of teaching! He has his BME from Stephen F. Austin State University. He is also a product of CFISD, graduating from Cypress Ranch HS in 2018. Mr. Sellers is looking forward to an exciting year!

Choir Bell Schedule 23-24

This week in choir...

LOTS of fun stuff happened this week!

In addition to solidfying the music for next week's fall concert, the 6th graders had a ton of fun at the 6th grade choir social.

Next week in choir...

Our accompanist will be coming on Monday to rehearse before Monday's concert. This rehearsal (during choir class) will be a Relevant Application grade.

T-shirts

Students received their choir shirts on Wednesday of this week. They are to wear this shirt at Monday's concert.

Students are expected to keep up with their choir shirt throughout the school year. They will wear them for multiple performances throughout the year. If a student loses their shirt, they will need to purchase another one through School Cash.

Optional Choir Decal Update

If you ordered a car decal, I will send you an email when I send them home with your student.

Accompanist Rehearsal - Monday, Oct. 9 (during class)

On Monday, October 9, our fabulous piano accompanist (Mrs. Barbara Jones) will be coming to each class to rehearse their concert pieces.

Students will receive an Relevant Application grade for this rehearsal on Oct. 9th.

Choir officers report at 5:00pm
Parent Volunteers report at 5:15pm
Students report by 5:30pm
Doors open to public at 6:00pm
Concert starts at 6:30pm

Uniform: Choir T-shirt

full-length blue or black jeans (or black leggings)
close-toed shoes (no flip flops, Crocs, or sandals)
hair should be out of the face
DEODORANT should be worn (no perfume, cologne, or anything fragrant)
No lanyards/no gum

Grades: Students will receive 2 grades for this concert. It is extremely important for students to attend/perform.

Summative Assessment - Performance, stage etiquette, and audience etiquette are included in this grade
Daily Grade - Proper uniform must be worn

Phones/Electronic Devices: Students need to leave their phones at home or with their parents/guardians during the concert.

Misc: If a parent is unable to drop off their child by 5:30 and/or pick up by 7:00, other transportation needs to be arranged.

Tenor/Bass Choir Performance @ Cy Creek HS (Tues., October 10)

Time:

Students report to Cy Creek Auditorium by 6:15pm
Concert starts at 7:00 pm

Grade: Students will receive a major grade for this performance

Attire: Hamilton choir shirt, blue or black jeans

The concert is free, and will last approximately one hour. We ask that the students stay for the entire concert. Not only is that good audience etiquette, but they will enjoy hearing the various choirs at the high school level. Of course, we welcome parents and siblings to stay and listen to the entire concert, as well. ☺

Uniform Fittings - Tuesday, October 10 (7th/8th grade only)

The wonderful ladies from Brass Thimble will be at school (during your child's choir class) to mark the student uniforms (dress or pants) for alterations. We ask that these students make every effort to be at school this day...this is the only day that Brass Thimble is able to do this.

7th/8th Grade Choir Social (Friday, October 20)

We invite all 7th/8th grade choir students to join us for our annual "Spooky Social."

When: Friday, October 20

Time: 6:00pm-8:00pm (Choir officers can arrive at 5:30pm)

Why: Hang out, eat pizza, and watch Monsters, Inc.!

Students will need to GO HOME after school and come back for 6:00pm.

Cell Phone Policy

There is no reason for your student to have their cell phone out in choir. If you need to reach them during their choir period, please email Mrs. Hounshell (Lauren.Hounshell@cfisd.net) or Mr. Sellers (Joshua.Sellers@cfisd.net) and we will communicate with them. Cell phones should remain in student's backpacks on the backpack shelves OR in the "cell phone hotel."
