COLE MANOR TRANSPORTATION UPDATE

Dear Cole Manor Families,

Due to a nationwide shortage of bus drivers, districts across the Commonwealth are experiencing challenges in staffing in both AM and PM runs. NASD is working diligently to address these shortages as best as possible each day. Our transportation department is sending out notifications each day with information regarding late runs. There are several things that we, as a school community can do to ensure the safety of our students and support the the drivers who are doing extra bus runs and substituting. How do I get information about my child's bus assignment?

This can be located in Infinite Campus under the Transportation section on the left.

How do I get information if my my child's bus is running late?

1. A voice message, a text and an e-mail will be sent to parents through Thrillshare with information about bus lateness.

2. Information can be found on the First View bus app.

Why is my child's bus late?

Some bus runs are doubled (drivers are doing multiple runs) due to the driver shortage or substitute drivers must be assigned and routes are interrupted or adjusted. The bus driver is not at all responsible for the lateness. Please treat our drivers with respect and patience as they are currently working to meet these challenges.

What does it mean if a message states that my child's bus is pending?

This means that the transportation team is still in the process of assigning a driver. It does not mean that your child has no bus.

Who is monitoring students who are at school while waiting for a late bus?

Cole Manor staff are at school monitoring students during any late pick ups. Students are permitted to use their chrome books and phones and are encouraged to read, do homework or chat with friends.

Can students bring snacks for late bus days?

We are asking students not bring food to eat after hours due to student allergies and the possibility of food sharing.

What if I want to come and pick up my child because a bus is late?

Parents are welcome to pick up their student if a bus is running late and they need the student home for an event, appointment or other reason. Please note that students cannot be released to anyone who is not noted as a contact in Infinite Campus. IDs must also be shown at the time of pick up. If a family is sending another individual to pick up a child not listed in IC, please contact the school with this information so we note that the individual has permission. They will need to present valid ID as well.

If I call my child's school and get voicemail, what should I do?

When buses are late, many calls come in to the office and some will be sent to VM. Please leave a detailed message and we will listen to it and get back to all families as soon as possible. We check the machine consistently to ensure we are not missing any communication.

Should I drive my child to school during this driver shortage?

The NASD is offering an incentive if families are able to drive their children to and from school. Please visit www.nasd.com to learn more about this and how you can switch to driving your child to school.

¿Cómo obtengo información sobre la asignación de autobús de mi hijo? Esto se puede ubicar en Infinite Campus. ¿Cómo obtengo información si el autobús de mi hijo llega tarde?

1. Se enviará un mensaje de voz a los padres a través de ROOMS con información sobre el retraso del autobús.

2. La información se puede encontrar en la aplicación del autobús First View.

¿Qué significa si un mensaje indica que el autobús de mi hijo está pendiente? Esto significa que el equipo de transporte aún está en el, un mensaje de texto y un correo electrónico, de asignar un conductor. No significa que su hijo no tenga autobús.

¿Por qué llega tarde el autobús de mi hijo? Algunos recorridos de autobuses se duplican debido a la escasez de conductores o se deben asignar conductores sustitutos y las rutas se interrumpen o ajustan. El conductor del autobús no es en absoluto responsable de la tardanza. Trate a nuestros conductores con respeto y paciencia, ya que actualmente están trabajando para enfrentar estos desafíos.

¿Quién monitorea a los estudiantes que están en la escuela mientras esperan un autobús retrasado? El personal de Cole Manor está en la escuela monitoreando a los estudiantes durante cualquier recogida tardía. A los estudiantes se les permite usar sus Chromebooks y teléfonos y se les anima a leer, hacer tareas o charlar con amigos.

¿Pueden los estudiantes traer refrigerios para los días en que el autobús llega tarde? ¡Sí! Si desea enviar un refrigerio saludable con su hijo en caso de que el autobús llegue tarde, pueden tenerlo después de la escuela. Los estudiantes no pueden compartir refrigerios debido a alergias alimentarias.

¿Qué pasa si quiero venir a recoger a mi hijo porque un autobús llega tarde? Los padres pueden recoger a sus estudiantes si un autobús llega tarde y necesitan que el estudiante esté en casa por un evento, cita u otro motivo. Tenga en cuenta que los estudiantes no pueden ser entregados a nadie que no esté registrado como contacto en Infinite Campus. También se deben mostrar las identificaciones al momento de la recogida. Si una familia envía a otra persona a recoger a un niño que no figura en IC, comuníquese con la escuela con esta información para que sepamos que la persona tiene permiso. También deberán presentar una identificación válida.

¿Debo llevar a mi hijo a la escuela durante esta escasez de conductores?

Cole Manor School rules , "Be Safe, Be Respectful & Be Responsible" are in place on all school buses.

The bus drivers are doing extra bus runs to fill in. It is important that safety rules are followed to ensure they can complete their routes without interruptions on the bus. We ask that our drivers are treated with respect and patience at all times.
